Buy some new ones

M: Dà jiā hǎo! Huānyíng shōutīng xiànzài xúe hànyǔ. wǒ shì ML.

S: Wǒ shì Stuart. And because ML can't get her trousers and shirt clean ….

M: I intend to buy some new ones 我打算买些新的 wǒ dǎsuàn mǎi xiē xīn de. But
it is YOU who must pay money 可是得你付钱 kě shì děi nǐ fù qián!

S: No problem, doesn't matter. WU SUO WEI, 2nd tone, 3rd tone, 4th
tone, wú sǔo wèi.

M: I intend to buy a pair of very expensive jeans

dǎsuàn mǎi yì tiáo hěn guì de niúzǎikù.

S: 无所谓 wú sǔo wèi. I've got lots of money 我有很多钱 wǒ yǒu hěn dūo qián.

M: Hmm. Not for long. Now we'll go to the clothing store to buy clothes

S: Why else would one go to a clothing store!

M: Maybe we'll get to the 服装店- clothing store fú zhuāngdiàn next lesson.

S: Cos now it's time for the new stuff. ML said …

XIE xiē means ‘some',xiē.

S: It's often used with 一 ‘one', 一些 yìxiē which means ‘a number of',‘some',
‘a few' or maybe ‘a little', depending on the context.

M: For example, 只有这一些了 there's only these. zhǐyǒu zhèi yì xiē le. Say it,
zhǐ yǒu zhèi yīxie le.

S: So how do you say, In the room there are some English people?

M: Hěn hǎo.

S: Now with ML, I intend to buy some new ones. Say it with her, and note that
we know we're talking about clothes, so, as in English, it's not necessary to say
‘clothes'.

S: Unfortunately, ML also said…

We've learnt 得 DEI děi, meaning ‘must', as in,You must go 你

得去 nǐ děi qù.

S: And ML is talking about paying money! 付 FU fù, ‘to pay' fù. ‘Pay money' 付
钱 fùqián. So again.

Here I put děi before nǐ to emphasize that it's YOU who must
pay. kě shì děi nǐ fù qián!

S: No problem, doesn't matter. 无所谓, wú sǔo wèi.

S: We'll do the rest of the new stuff next lesson. Now let's finish with:

M: 我打算买些新的 wǒ dǎsuàn mǎi xiē xīn de.

S: Good idea 好主意 hǎo zhúyì

M: But WILL he pay? We'll find out later. Zài jiàn
