108th Annual Chicago Yacht Club's Race to Mackinac

At 333 miles (289.4 nautical miles), the Race to Mackinac is the oldest annual
freshwater distance race in the world. The Mac starts at the Chicago Lighthouse,
just off Navy Pier and continues to Mackinac Island. 2016 marks the 108th running
of the Race to Mackinac in which over 350 boats compet. The Race has also amassed
a strong following using technology and social networking; it can be followed virtually
using Facebook, Twitter and its Race tracking interface.

American Legion Park, on the bay in St. Ignace, will be transformed into an outdoor
movie theater every Sunday evening from July 3 through September 4. Enjoy the
fireworks on Saturday nights, and stay for the movies on Sunday! Come one, come
all to our free family-friendly 'Movies By The Bay' this summer in St. Ignace! Movie
will begin at dusk. Here is our 2016 movie line-up! July 3 - Minions July 10 - Shaun
the Sheep July 17 - Tomorrowland July 24 - Inside Out July 31 - Peanuts Movie

August 7 - Eddie the Eagle August 14 - Zootopia August 21 - Top Gun August 28 Max September 4 - Kung Fu Panda 3 September 18 - Smokey and the Bandit (this
movie will be shown at Little Bear East Arena) FREE popcorn! Other concessions will
be available for purchase. So pack up the kids, grab your chairs and blankets, and

Voices In The Mist: Twilight Walking Tour

Come and experience 'Voices in the Mist: Twilight Walking Tours, held every Monday
and Tuesday evenings during July and August. Take a historic ghostly walk with
stories told by U.P. storyteller, Woodsmoke Jim and River Lark Mary. This guided
walking tour along the Huron Boardwalk is full of surprises, legends, stories and
mysteries of St. Ignace. All tours begin at the Museum of Ojibwa Culture (500 N.
State St.) at 7:00 p.m., and are free of charge. Tips are accepted and appreciated.
Tours last 1 1/2 hours, and will go rain or shine, so dress for the weather.

Friday Night at the Museums

This fun-filled evening will have something for everyone! As you stroll along the
streets in downtown St. Ignace on a Friday night you will see a variety of activities to
watch and/or participate in. The Museum of Ojibwa Culture will have Native American
drumming and singing by the Grandmother Moon Singers. In addition, the Museum
will offer children's crafts from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The museums are a perfect place to
talk about how unique St. Ignace is, one of the few places in America that the Native
Americans are still in the place where they were when the Europeans came. The
Michilimackinac Historical Society will present Fort de Buade Museum & Galleries,
featuring rare historic artifacts and unique art collections.

Fireworks Over The Bay!

night from July through September, fireworks will decorate the sky over Moran Bay.
Visitors can enjoy the display from the Huron Boardwalk, area restaurants and
motels, or even just strolling through the business district. Saturdays at 10:00 p.m.,
come and join us in St. Ignace, Michigan!

Music and fun will be found in the downtown St. Ignace area, and the evening will
end with Fireworks Over The Bay at 10:00 p.m. (or dusk). Outdoor vendors will be
scattered throughout the downtown area for you to stop by and visit as they display
their wares. Music will be provided by G-Man Entertainment from his tent in front of
the First National Bank (across from the Arnold Mackinac Island Ferry Dock) from
7:00-10:00 p.m.

Soo Area Sportsmen's Club presents the "13th Annual Connor Gorsuch Kid's Fishing
Day," July 30th, 2016. Come out to bask in the sunshine and have a competition with
the fish! Kids sixteen and under can enjoy a free day of fishing at the kids fishing
pond at Rotary Park. Registration is July 30th from 8am-9am. From 11am-12pm, all
registered children will be able to fish. The community has donated food,
refreshments, and prizes for the event. Wilderness Treasures is providing the bait.
Some fishing equipment will be available, but you are encouraged to bring your own.

Rendezvous in the Sault

Rendezvous in the Sault is a living history event that will take place along Historic
Water Street at the City Hall Grounds and at the Historic Homes. Local and visiting
historical re-enactors will set up camps and displays with presentations and
demonstrations on military and civilian life in the period of 1668-1840. Food, music,

dancing, cannon firing, storytelling, crafts and games will be just some of the fun
things to see and do on Saturday and Sunday of the last full weekend of July.
