My Philosphy Statement
I believe that regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, and capabilities, each student should have the
opportunity to learn from professional and well-informed teachers who are knowledgeable, both
in their area of expertise and life. Undoubtedly, every child has different learning styles and
aptitudes. However, I believe that by first developing a positive personal relationship with every
student, a teacher can give each an equal chance of success. By recognizing every student's
potential and having separate, individual goals for each, a teacher can accommodate personal
needs and abilities and provide scaffolding for important social and academic skills and
aspirations.
communication. It will also contribute to molding and preparing students for adult interaction
and survival in the future.
I believe that academic learning and development commences with inspiration and motivation.
They are essential for learning. I intend to motivate students by teaching them to be intrinsically
motivated through challenging yet supportive lessons and assignments. A teacher must
demonstrate enthusiasm and express confidence in the students' abilities to learn and be
successful in order to push them to their full potential. When teachers nurture individual talents in
each child, it builds self-esteem and may encourage lifelong skills. Employing motivational learning
theory in one's classroom forces students to take an active role in their education by making
choices and assuming responsibility for their education.
earning style
It is trite to say that students learn in many different ways. It is important for teachers to
understand the differences in their childrens learning style so that they can implement the best
practice strategies into their curriculum, assessments and activities. My goal as a teacher is to
create an environment that caters to many different learning styles. This includes presenting the
information in a variety of ways and using for example, visual and auditory aids. Students also
learn by correlation and I believe it is important to adopt this as a method of teaching.
Another goal I have for myself is to be objective to all the students in order to be fair and
consistent. For example, if there is a need to correct student behavior, after the punishment has
been fulfilled, I plan to give the student a fresh start and treat him or her as equally as other
students. Discipline will therefore be preventative and supportive rather than corrective. This will
help to create a supportive, positive classroom climate where student achievement and proper
behavior are reinforced. Students will be reminded that as a teacher I am here to assist, and not to
function as an adversary.
rganization of classroom
One of the ways to creating a safe learning environment is to physically organize your classroom
to reflect such. Classroom organization is also a key concept to consider when teaching. My goal
is to create a classroom that is physically organized and that is characterized by mutual respect
that will make it a lot easier to teach effectively as well as to allow students to feel invited to
participate. The physical space of the classroom will be organized to facilitate movement and
interaction. Movement around the classroom helps make teaching more engaging. It also helps
with classroom control.
In order to be a successful teacher the importance of the profession must be of high priority. The
teaching profession has come under attack lately for all the wrong reasons. As professionals
entrusted with the education of young minds, the profession cannot be taken lightly. It is full of
challenges, frustrations, and responsibilities. However, it is a task that is also full of excitement,
wonder, and joy. My goal is to always remember my moral commitment to educate and train my
students; the future generation of society.
Like the theorist John Dewey I believe that the world is in a state of constant change and the
classroom should reflect it. Flexibility and Adaptability in the classroom are two of most
important qualities that every teacher must possess. I believe that as a teacher you should be able
to acclimate yourself to changing roles, job responsibilities, material, and schedules. If you
cannot accommodate for these different aspects of teaching, it will be difficult to give your
students the best learning experience that they could possibly get.
I believe that every child can learn!
