To prepare for the initialization of the array, verify the following requirements have been met:
FLARE Operating Environment (OE) software version 03.22.xxx or higher installed on the storage
system. A card that ships with the storage system tells you the FLARE version installed.
Done
A server on the same subnet (physical LAN segment) as the storage systems management ports
and running one of the operating systems listed below. This server may also be a server with Fibre
Channel connections to the storage system.

Linux
Solaris
Windows 2000
Windows Server 2003
Note: The initialization utility is not available for AIX servers.The customers LAN port is set to
auto-negotiate. The management LAN port on CLARiiON arrays is hard-set to auto-negotiate and
cannot be changed to half- or full-duplex to accommodate different customer LAN port settings.

You will need an IP address assigned for each SP and the server/laptop that will be used to run the
Initialization Wizard. Gather the following information:

Connect your laptop or server (from which running the Initialization Wizard) to the LAN (same subnet)
as the 2 SPs.
