Quick Installation Guide Gdc-600be
Notice : Install the GDC-600BE in indoor place protected from the environmental
effect such as a surge, very low temperature and etc.
1. General
(1) Check the packing components of the GDC-600BE.
(2) Determine the location of the GDC-600BE. See the quick guide to positioning
th base
the
b
station

t page.
(3) Connect a WTI(Wireless Terminal Interface) port to the GDC-600BE by a twisted
cable (at least more than CAT3).
(4) The three LEDs of the front housing of the GDC-600BE provide several pieces of
diagnostic information.
Check the LEDs of the GDC-600BE.

The software image and the FPGA image of the GDC-600BE can be upgraded via
the serial interface of the WTI board or the Web admin (iPECS-MG).
3. Cabling
(1) Direct cabling between the WTI board and the GDC-600BE
WTI Board
(2) Cabling with the ferrite core and the connection tab
WTI Board
(3) Cabling with MDF (or Patch Panel), SDF, and NTP(or the connection tab)
[Attention]
1) It is not recommended to use many MDFs or Patch Panels to avoid some connection
or contact problem, which can cause the data communication error with the system.
2) The cable installer should check the line condition between MDF and SDF including
the building cable with a cable tester or other tool.
3) The system installer should do the line test using the loop-back test supported from
the WTI board via its serial interface and check the full line condition between
the WTI board and the GDC-600BE before the normal system operation.
Please refer to the loop-back line test procedure explained below.

[Decision]
The 1st port(Link0), the 7th port(Link6) and the 8th port(Link7) have
no problem. But other ports are not connected to the base stations or
have some cable problem.

Two wires for Tx pair should be twisted each other and two wires for Rx pair should
be also twisted each other(The polarity of Tx pair and Rx pair is not important).
4. Quick guide to positioning the base station(GDC-600BE)
(1) Place the base station to maximize the direct line of sight.
(2) Mount it as high as possible.
(3) Place it to minimize obstructions near the base station.
(4) DDo not
t place
l
it near metal
t l material.
t i l
(5) Situate it in the middle of the area you intend to cover.
(6) Install additional base stations required to meet the estimated call capacity.
(7) In multi-story building, it is desirable to plan coverage for each floor
separately.
(8) Place the base station more than 2 meter above from the floor and more than
0.5 meter below the ceiling.
(9) Overlap between base stations must be established to be able to carry out
handover between base stations (Recommendation
(
overlap is at least 10~15m).
)
(10) Be aware that RF shadows created by parts of the building can cause spots
where no radio signals are at all, find that shadowed area and fine-tune the
position of the base stations.
