Elementary School World Tour Conference Operation Smile Student Programs is planning its 12th annual World Tour Conference. This conference is specifically designed for 5th grade students located in the Hampton Roads area so that they may engage in a unique learning experience outside of the classroom and gain a better understanding of the world around them. Operation Smile Student Programs empowers youth to create global movement for positive change through our four pillars: Leadership, Education, Service, and Awareness. We count on caring students, parents, and educators to bring smiles to children worldwide. For 33 years, Operation Smile has been a driving force in providing students the opportunity to learn about the world and how they can make a direct impact in the lives of children. Hundreds of 5th grade students from Hampton Roads have participated in the World Tour Conference. The number of participants increases each year, and Operation Smile Student Programs would like to continue the growth by incorporating additional schools at no cost to the students. The event is characterized by dynamic presentations put on by Operation Smile staff and volunteers. Some of these presentations will include high school students who recently participated on an Operation Smile international medical mission. After an opening presentation from our keynote speakers, the students will divide into small groups for presentations from Operation Smile volunteers and staff members to learn more about specific countries around the world. They will also partake in team games and other interactive learning experiences throughout the conference day. Through these team building activities, students will experience the team work that is essential for our medical teams on missions to be successful. Every day the world grows closer and more interconnected. By starting young, we are bridging the gaps to adopt an attitude of respect for all countries and all people regardless of the ethnic, religious, or physical differences. We are encouraging these students to take ownership in helping the world around them by participating in the Operation Smiles Shamrock Final Mile to help support our cause. Past participants of the Final Mile are encouraged to attend wearing their Final Mile t-shirts and medals. We hope you will join us for the World Tour Conference on February 23rd, 2016. The event will be held at Operation Smiles Global Headquarters at 3641 Faculty Boulevard in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We hope to see you in February!
