Identity Fraud
The issue of identity fraud is a hot topic in the newspapers and on TV. But is it as big a problem as it
seems? People in the United States are certainly concerned about identity fraud. A recent survey
reported that 78% of U.S. citizens believe that such fraud is a serious personal threat. Out of the
1,000 people surveyed, 13% had experienced identity fraud, or had a family member who
experienced it. These numbers show that this crime is something to be concerned about.
So how does identity fraud happen? The perception of those surveyed was that the Internet was the
greatest threat. This perception is wrong, however. Fraud is more likely to come from stealing and
then using the new identity in a face-to-face situation. This surprises some people who assume that
the Internet is insecure and computer hackers can access all their personal information. This may be
true, but there is more danger of simply having your wallet stolen. Perhaps since the Internet is
relatively new, and since identity fraud is currently increasing, people assume the two are related; but
people today also have more credit cards, bank cards, and other identity markers in our wallets and
purses than before.
Identity fraud is not going away; in fact, according to the Federal Trade Commission, it is the fastest
growing area of crime. People should be aware of all the ways in which identity fraud can be
committed and of the different ways we should take precautions.

Anger Management
Anger is not an uncommon emotion. Sometimes it can cause misunderstandings and even violent
behavior. This is why it is important to know how to handle anger. The following suggestions can
help:
Think about why you are angry: Be honest with yourself about the root of the problem. Try writing
in a journal to see what caused the anger and how you can relieve the situation.
Exercise: Exercising regularly can help you get rid of stress and clear your head. It helps you to
mentally escape from the situation that might be causing your anger.
Let go of the anger: Learn the signs of your anger and try to relax when you feel it coming on. Use
deep breathing techniques or meditation, or try some yoga poses.
Support groups: Find a support group for anger management led by a therapist.
Ignoring anger can cause high blood pressure and feelings of isolation. Learning how to handle the
anger allows a person to feel these strong emotions without losing control.
