Waste management continues to be a growing challenge. Common methods of waste disposal include landfilling, incineration, and recycling. Landfilling remains one of the most widely used methods due to its cost effectiveness, though it uses land. Incineration reduces waste volume and land usage through burning trash. Recycling transforms materials into new products to minimize strain on the environment and reduce the need for disposal and new materials. Trienekens uses a sanitary landfill for municipal waste and secure landfill for scheduled waste. Their landfill is constructed in stages with multi-layer sealing and drainage to prevent pollution from leachate.

Ways or method of disposal
Waste disposal management continues to be rising challenges as population grows and
along with the industrial development of countries. A decade ago, people would have the trash from their homes and dumped it in the places far away from the city of village. Nowadays, instead of open dumping, usually the trash is collected and transported to landfill and then buried. Instead of burying the trash in landfills, there are also some methods that can be used in the waste management system. As being mention earlier, one of the methods in waste management is landfill. By using landfill is probably the most practiced in more areas of worlds than any other method. This is because, landfills are often old and abandoned quarries and mining areas. This method are considered the most cost-effective way of disposal because based on some research, there are about 75% of the cost implementation is attributable to the collection and transportation of waste from residential and business to the landfill. The waste is layered in a thin spreads and then it will be compacted. So, with a layer of clean earth covering the waste material before more layers are added over time. Besides, incineration also is one of the parts in the method of waste management system. This kind of method actually involves burning the trash. It is simply referred to as thermal treatment, as a general category of high temperature treatment of trash material. This kind of method can be used to transform waste into heat, gas, steam and ash. One of the advantages of incineration is that it can reduce the refuse volume by half or more and it also requires a little usage of land. Besides, it can save a lot of space if compared with using landfill only. This is because, an incineration facility can be built in a small area to process huge amounts of waste. Last but not least, recycling of waste management can be defined as taking the materials and transforming them into a new product. This method are used the key concept in the modern waste minimization philosophy. It is about lessening the strain on the environment through minimizing the need to fully dispose of the waste generated and reducing the need to introduce new materials into the environment and then having dispose of them later. In a modern area nowadays, people started to have realized the important of recycling in everyday life. Therefore, people started to already separating out their paper product, aluminum soda can or glass bottles into different waste containers so that these could be recycled. Not only that, when bring their own shopping bag to the supermarket instead of using new plastic bag also another way of recycling.
Waste management system in Trienekens Sdn bhd
One of the waste management systems in Trienekens are Sanitary Landfill for municipal solid waste. This landfill caters for the disposal of municipal solid waste from the city of Kuching and its surrounding areas. The landfill is constructed and later re-cultivated over 8 stages, cell by cell, thus keeping the open tipping areas comparatively small at all times. The primary target of a modern landfill design is to minimize or eliminate adverse environmental impacts arising from the disposal of municipal solid waste which is typically contains a wide range of pollutants. So, in order to avoid any leaching of pollutants into groundwater, the landfill is constructed with a multi-layer base sealing system, comprising of a highly impermeable sealing layer using the latest environmental protection material that are covered by geotextile and a drainage and filtration layer in order to ensure the undisturbed flow of the leachate water into the embedded leachate collection pipes, at all times. Next waste management system of Trienekens are Secure Landfill for the scheduled waste.
