The Billy
Boils Again!
By Jane Gardner
Out for a weekend drive last
year, former Werribee couple Roseann Urut and Nigel
Day pulled off the highway
to visit the small town of
Gordon. Before they knew
it, theyd moved in and reopened the once popular
Billy Boils Caf. Its something Roseann, a qualified
a-la-carte chef, has always
wanted to do. We loved it
the minute we saw it, says
Roseann, speaking of both
the caf and Gordon. Its
close to Melbourne, Daylesford and Ballarat and theres
lots to do locally as well.
Nigels first love is music,
continues Roseann. So as
well as wanting to provide
something different on our
menu, we hope to invite local musicians to come and
play as well. Depending on
the community, we may
eventually look at opening
Friday or Saturday nights
too.

Indigenous
policy flagged
By Kate Taylor
The Aboriginal flag will fly
alongside the Australian,
Victorian and Moorabool
flags at council offices in
Moorabool.
A statement of acknowledgement of the traditional
owners of the land will also
be read at the commencement of all council meetings,
public meetings organised
by council officers, and public events.
The new policy was adopted at the Wednesday 4 February council meeting.
The motion, put forward by
East Ward Councillor Tonia
Dudzik and seconded by
East Ward Councillor John
Spain, did however see debate among the councillors.
I didnt think I would have
to debate this, Cr Dudzik
said.
She said that indigenous
people were the first people
here and that flying the flag
is a matter of respect.
We have a considerable
indigenous population and
they would like their flag
flown. Its the right thing to
do.
West Ward Councillor Tom
Sullivan voted against the
motion, saying his objection
was not about respect but
that the acknowledgement
seemed tokenistic and
that flying the flag every day
would make it less special
than if it was flown only
during occasions such as
NAIDOC Week.

Court in action
By Jessica Howard
A 67-year-old Long Forest
resident faced possible jail
time last Friday after pleading guilty to a case involving insurance fraud of over
$30,000.
Roger Buchannan entered
the Bacchus Marsh Magistrates Court on February 6
with a plea of guilty to one
charge of obtaining property by deception and one
charge of filing a fake police
report.
Mr Buchannan reported a
burglary in his Long Forest
home to the Bacchus Marsh
police station in November
2011, stating that two quad
bikes had allegedly been
stolen from his shed. The accused then went on to file an
insurance claim of $30,650,
which was soon settled, the
court heard.

may be surprisingly vague, but dont press for details.
This week may be favourable for learning a new language.
Your ideas are gaining support from high up. Pets figure

Sorry I didnt get to say goodbye. Im sorry I didnt get to say
how sorry I am to all your family, especially to your boys.
I do remember Maurs, how you taught me about Country Life.
The laughing and partying with Denise and you. We had

We laughed our butts off. So many memories, so many laughs.
I will always have a place in my heart for you Maurs. Love to
