New Sizes
The proven performance of the F270 and F370
BanburyMixers has been enhanced. The F305
and F440 Banbury Mixers utilize the same
footprint and drives as their respective
predecessors while boasting 5% and 8% additional
free chamber volume respectively. Combined with
the mixing efficiency of the NST rotors, the
additional volume can typically be mixed using less
power compared to traditional 4-Wing Rotor
designs. Because the same rotor centers are
utilized, the only step needed to upgrade to the
additional volume is a routine change of the mixing
chamber.
Hydraulic Hopper
The Hydraulic Hopper features a dedicated
hydraulic power unit that has been specifically
designed to provide efficient, uniform batch
pressure and rapid ram motion.
The unique circuitry and pump design produces
consistent batch pressurization without sacrificing
the working nature of a pneumatic system. This
design reduces the intensity of spikes in batch
pressure extending bushing life and enhancing
dust stop performance. A split collar weight
connection provides stability to the weight while
still allowing it to rotate on the piston rod. In
addition, the piston rod provides the added
stiffness to further quiet the system and improve
bushing life in the hopper cover. There is
inherently a significant reduction in operating cost
due to the improved efficiency over compressed
air. These features result in batch-to-batch
consistency and overall efficiency unmatched by
any ram power system.
Keel Bottom Weight
The Keel Bottom Weight is a revolutionary new
floating weight designed specifically for the family
of BanburyMixers.
This design utilizes optimized working surface
geometry. The augmented working surface results
in improvements in both productivity and batch
quality. In addition, the unique geometry leads to
an improved work environment due to noise and
vibration reduction.
In laboratory and production testing, results show
an increase in batch size of approximately 4% - 5%
across all F-Series BanburyMixer sizes.
Ideally, the Keel Bottom Weight is used in
conjunction with the NST Rotor and the
Hydraulic Hopper. This combination of options
yields significant productivity gains up to 15%.

NSTRotors
NST Rotors are the latest technology rotor from
Farrel Corporation. The unique patented rotor
geometry utilizes the shear intensive wing design of
the proven ST Rotor in combination with a
distributive wing designed to circulate material
axially within the mixing chamber. The result is a
perfect combination of material flow and shear
intensity that creates uniformity very early in the
mixing cycle.
The results of multiple studies using both laboratory
& production sized mixers confirm significant
performance results for the NSTRotor:
Product uniformity improvements up to 70% over
2-Wing Rotors, 65% over other 4-Wing Rotors
Product physical properties improved up to 12%
Increase in productivity up to 14% over 2-Wing
Rotors and 6% over 4-Wing rotor designs
Up to 17% improvement in energy efficiency
The NST Rotor has quickly established itself as
the new standard throughout the industry and has
been installed in over 50 plants throughout the world
in the few short years since its introduction.
