This will be the last week of clubs this week as we approach our final week of term. External clubs such as Nippon UK Jujitsu and Red Tiger Karate clubs will continue, but teacher led ones will stop. ENTERPRISE DAY So many thanks to all our parents and children for supporting our Year 6 classes and helping to raise funds towards their leavers trip. 474 was raised by Year 6 children which was a tremendous effort. Well done! FREE INFANT MEALS As you may be aware, this government has put plans in place to serve free dinners to infants next September onwards. There is a huge amount of refurbishment work to be carried out this summer break to the school in general, including a new kitchen which is to be built in the infant block. Lancashire Catering Services have much to do to ensure that this is to go ahead on schedule. I am anticipating that all our parents will make the most of this opportunity and we shall be serving 180 dinners each day to our youngest children. Please do not hesitate to direct questions to me if you have any. If you are not intending to take up on these free meals, it would help the school plan ahead if you could inform us. YOU ARE NEEDED! I would really like to start encouraging mums and dads (and grandparents) to help us out next year with our Parents & Friends Events. Your ideas and help are tremendously valued and I would love to start the year with a really positive energetic beginning. Could you please consider coming along as your time and contribution would be appreciated. LIBRARY BOOKS/HOME READING BOOKS Please could you help us by returning all library books in order that we can look at their condition and audit our stock. Mrs Galland is keen to have our library up and running for all children at the start of next term. May I also ask that all home readers are returned to their correct box for the summer break. Children should return all books before the last week of term. Many thanks indeed! CAMP NIGHT We are looking forward to inviting our families to join us for a camping experience this Saturday night. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any further bookings or parents wanting to turn up and pitch their tent on the day as previously advertised. This has been a popular event and we have had a large number of bookings in advance of the event which is fabulous! The weather is being watched very closely as this can make or break this event, therefore a final decision will be made on Friday before the close of the school day. Here are some bits of information to help this event run smoothly: - Food will be available in the evening and a breakfast van has been invited for the morning. However, no gas cookers or BBQs are to be used whatsoever for this event. - Any donations of cake will be very much welcomed. Please bring any cakes on Friday or Saturday at the start of the event. These can be bought and enjoyed with your teas and coffees. - A campfire will be lit and marshmallow kebabs will be on sale. - 2pm arrive to pitch your tent 3pm orienteering 3.30-5pm Races & Games - 5pm Food (Tea/Coffee/Drinks available throughout the day) 6.30pm Tuck Shop 7.30pm Camp Fire Bedtime??? Please feel free to ask at the office if you are interested in this opportunity! SHOEBOX APPEAL ROTAKIDS (YEAR 4) AND YEAR 5 COLLECTION The Rotary Club came to visit years four and five last Thursday to tell us more about their shoe box appeal. Children in years four and five now have a shoe box each, which can be filled as per the instructions on the inside of the lid, along with a pound coin which should be stuck on to the small circle on the outside of the box to help towards delivery costs. There are also some extra shoe boxes in school, so if you have a child in another year group who would like to fill one, please collect one from the office. The shoeboxes will then be collected by the Rotary club and eventually taken to Eastern Europe to assist those in need of some help. Please could all shoeboxes be returned to school no later than Monday 14 th July. We have extended this deadline owing to the fact that many more children have wanted to be involved. KAKAPO CLASS LOST ITEMS Two Halo toys were being looked after on the teachers for a child in class but later they disappeared. If any parents have noticed these figures at home, could you help us return them to a rather unhappy boy. It would also help us also to remind our children of the need to keep toys at home unless they are specifically asked to bring them into school for a curriculum topic. WELL DONE! Well done to Olivia, Robyn, Isabelle, Katie, Deon and Jack from Leopard Class and William, Harrison and Ben from Jaguar Class who have completed an impressive 1 mile swim last week! Congratulations!
