Never before has highly precise
6-sided complete machining of
complex parts been as easy as
with the expanded GMX linear
series. With the GMX 200 /
GMX 300 / GMX 400 and GMX
500 linear machines, four high
performance turning/milling
centers now become univer-
sally available to the demand-
ing user. There are four frame
sizes to choose from with many
of the same components. All
of them set world standards
with regard to power, precision
and productivity. They give
customers the assurance of
having the right equipment
for every machining task and
every part size. This is also es-
pecially true for small series
manufacturing. The large selec-
tion of both tools and the ability
to exchange them within the
magazine parallel to production
time, reduces setup times and
leads to minimum idle times.
The pioneering performance
spectrum of the GMX linear
series impresses with high
torque, dynamic spindle motors,
combined with the highly pre-
cise turning/milling spindle,
plus absolute scales and state
of the art linear technology.
This is a performance spectrum
that is increasingly demanded
in the advanced technologies of
the aerospace, automotive,
hydraulics and pneumatics
industry, as well as in sophisti-
cated machine and tool con-
struction. Understandably so,
since trend setting develop-
ments by the GILDEMEISTER
turning machine GmbH respond

sures with increased perform-

GMX 200 linear: Innovative Productivity
through Powerful Metal Removal
Whether for the turning, boring,
milling or deep hole drilling of
chuck, bar or shaft parts (even
in the smallest frame size) the
new GMX 200 linear of the GMX
linear series is equipped for the
most difficult machining tasks.
The powerful central component
group with the most modern
linear drive technology can fully
unfold its productivity. This in-
creases potential in conjunc-
tion with the massive machine
bed and screwed on linear roller
guideways. The compound
slide with Y and B-axis and the
highly dynamic turning and
milling spindle with 73.8 lb/ft
and a maximum of 12,000 rpm
combine the performance of a
high end lathe with the bundled
power of a hi-tech machining
center.
Integrated spindle motors in
synchronous technology lead to
exceptional torque values, in
the optional NC-controlled
tailstock version and the coun-
ter spindle version. The count-
er spindle also allows 6-sided
complete machining with the
shortest cycle times, because
of speed and angle synchro-
nous workpiece hand-over.
The GMX 200 linear is the lat-
est development by GILDE-
MEISTER, with which you will
gain a clear advantage over
the competition.

GMX 300 / GMX 400 linear: Highest
Precision in the Shortest Possible Time
The GMX 300 / GMX 400 linear
machines continue the success
story of lathe and milling centers
made in Bielefeld, now also for
medium diameters and turning
lengths. High-torque dynamic
spindle motors in synchronous
technology, combined with a
highly precise, powerful turning/
milling spindle allow 6-sided
complete machining of com-
plex workpieces. Whether in
the counter spindle version
with integrated spindle motor
and C-axis or the NC tailstock
version even in this frame
size the highly dynamic linear
drive, the absolute direct
measuring systems and the 60-
or even 120 pocket shelf maga-
zine set new standards in pre-
cision, functionality and job
time. In addition, four extra tool
setup positions allow tool ex-
change parallel to production
time. Both machines can be
equipped with a tool carrier to
reduce job times even more.
The 12x star-turret with tool
drive can be programmed to
work simultaneously with the
upper tool carrier or the count-
er spindle. An ingenious move
by the GILDEMEISTER develop-
ers. With this configuration, job
times can be reduced by up to
40 % depending on part geom-
etry.
For flexible shaft machin-
ing, the GMX 300 / GMX 400
linear can be equipped with a
NC-steady rest as an alterna-
tive to the turret. Last but not
least a bar loader, connected
to the hollow clamping cylin-
der en-sures fully automatic bar
ma-chining with bar capacities
of 2.6, 3.5 or 4 in. The GMX
300 / GMX 400 linear turn-
ing/milling centers achieve par-
allel machin-ing with previous-
ly unattainable flexibility. This
allows customers to be lengths
ahead of the competition in
the shortest possible time.

GMX 500 linear: Economic Advantages
through Unparalleled Performance
The integration of the widest
possible technology spectrum
into an already successful basic
concept was the demand met
by the compact turning/milling
centers in the GMX linear
series.
GMX 500 linear machining
center has been created, which
effectively combines a linear
drive, a 12,000-rpm milling
spindle with integrated face ser-
ration and a 12-station star tur-
ret. It is a machine whose per-
formance spectrum is rounded
off perfectly by two high torque
92.5 hp (40% DC) spindle mo-
tors in compact synchronous
design.
The fast and powerful linear
drive drastically reduces idle
times and the solid cast-iron
machine bed with a gross weight
of 9 tons in monoBLOCK
TM
design is a match even for the
greatest dynamic forces. In
addition, the screwed-on linear
roller guideways, and the
absolute glass scales in the lin-
ear axes ensure the highest
rigidity and precision.
The thermal regulation of
all important components, the
optional NC-tailstock, as well as
the NC-controlled steady rest
with clamping ranges up to 17.7
in. are additional features that
ensure highly precise 6-sided
complete machining of complex
bar, chuck or shaft parts.

All machines of the GMX linear
series have one thing in com-
mon: they set world standards.
They excel in power, precision
and productivity. This is due to
technological features that set
these standards. They ensure the
highest possible degree of man-
ufacturing quality because of
hi-tech features based on the
most advanced linear technol-
ogy.
The highly dynamic linear
drive in the Z-axis, achieves
impressive acceleration and
braking values with the turn-
ing/milling spindle despite the
large quantities moved in the
compound slide, and conse-
quently reduces idle times to a
minimum during tool exchange.
All this is achieved at the high-
est positioning accuracy. For
direct measuring, absolute
glass scales are used in all linear
axes so that the reference point
method becomes unnecessary.
To minimize possible influence
on the thermal performance
through coolants, an additional
132 gallon (optional 264 gallon)
coolant tank, including com-
pact band filter has been in-
stalled.
The 12,000 rpm milling
spindle allows complete ma-
chining of even the most com-
plex workpieces, because of its
well calibrated tool magazine
with up to 120 tools. Because
of their rigidity, the HSK-63A
or Capto tool mounts in the
milling spindle ensure best
milling results and excellent
surface qualities. The 3-fold
face serration, which stops the
spindle with positive fit, leads
to optimum turning results.
The following hi-tech features
are freely interpolatable: 5-axis
programming, compound slide
with Y- and B-axis, integrated
spindle motors in synchronous
technology with C-axis, a
highly dynamic linear drive
and the optional tool turret.
Apart from leading to max-
imum manufacturing quality
and efficiency, these features
offer one thing above all: new
dimensions in 6-sided com-
plete machining.

ARTIS broken
tools control.
More flexibility and productivity
combined with the highest
process safety, and customized
options broaden the high per-
formance spectrum of the
GMX linear even further. The
turret can be equipped with a
turret steady rest for flexible
shaft machining. The mechan-
ical/electronically controlled
NC-tailstock and self-centering
NC-steady rest in the Z or Z/
X-axis are additional options
for shaft machining.
Machining from the bar is
made easier with even more
options. A bar loader attached
to the hollow clamping cylinder
allows fully automatic bar ma-
chining with bar capacities of
2.5, 3.5, 4 in.
In addition, the power activat-
ed part gripper picks up the
finished parts from the counter
spindle and lays them onto a
conveyor belt, which ensures
damage free part removal.
A whole number of systems
are available ensuring a maxi-
mum of process safety: coolant
pressure of 1,160 psi for smooth
deep-hole boring, the Leuck-
hardt sensor for simple broken
drill detection for the top tool
carrier, the ARTIS broken tool
detector for all the tools in the
top, and bottom tool carrier,
as well as in process measur-
ing sensors, which control
both raw part contours and the
dimensions of the finished part.

line. Powerline stands for a

CNC and PLC sector by more
than 100 %. It is a high-end
control, which fits seamlessly

of complete machining cen-
ters with powerful hardware
and software packages.

DMG-Powertools and MF-Pro-
grammer 3D (either integrated
or on an external PC), DMG-
Messenger and connection to
DMG-Netservice are the out-
standing features that impres-
sively ensure highest levels of
user friendliness and process
efficiency. MF-Programmer 3D,
for example, is an equally
unique and efficient program-
ming tool to reduce setup costs
by as much as 50%. After
entering the geometry data or
after having imported complete
CAD data (optional), the tool
oriented and dialogue driven
program is generated. The
entire machining process can be
simulated in real time and 3D,
either for both spindles or for
both tool carriers, depending on
the machine configuration.
Meanwhile, all components
and tools in the work area are
tested, and possible error
sources are eliminated from
the very beginning.
DMG-Service Agent is
another feature ensuring for
maximum safety. It is an easy-
to-use intelligent early warn-
ing system that offers both
