The Jonah Group has a freely available, well-documented software development
methodology with which we've successfully delivered many enterprise systems.

Engineering (OOSE), and has incorporated proven agile practices that we've found to

Case Study: RouteOne
RouteOne – Credit Aggregation System
• RouteOne was in the process of launching the first release of their Credit Aggregation
System (CAS) to a Pilot group of dealers.
• The goal was to distribute the dealership boarding / enrollment / management
process so that dealers could self-register their dealership and finance sources. A
standardized workflow process was established to approve, automatically configure
and activate the dealer in the system.
• The Jonah Group was asked to provide project management, requirements analysis,
UI design, technical design, software development, and testing services to bring the
new functionality to fruition.
• This component was also to act as a proving ground for a number of experimental
technologies with which RouteOne was not yet familiar, but wanted to pursue.
• Work to date has been delivered on time and on budget. RouteOne continues to
engage The Jonah Group work the ongoing project.

BCN – Database Review and Remediation
• Our HMO client had migrated their healthcare information to a new online
transaction system and had created a reporting subsystem to extract
information that fed over 600 reports.
• Data extraction was slow and often overran the available nightly batch
window.
• Reports performed poorly and were often inaccurate and inconsistent
• Jonah was engaged to assess these inefficiencies and devise and implement
short and long-term solutions

• Jonah allocated a senior data warehousing expert and two senior reporting
specialists
• Questions covering Performance, Capacity, Scalability, Reliability,
Availability, Accuracy, Maintainability, Extensibility, Reusability,
Manageability, Usability and Security were distributed to executives, users,
managers, architects, developers and testers over a several weeks
interview period
• We delivered an extensive report detailing the existing system architecture,
design and implementation, along with more than 40 recommendations
organized into areas of data model design, report design and
implementation, batch framework design and processing, development and
promotion process, operations management and system documentation
• As a result of the architecture review, our client engaged us in a
remediation project to address the deficiencies in the system. This work is
ongoing.

Case Study: Large Financial Client
Large Financial Client – Online Mutual Funds

• Provided a development team to build a web interface to our client’s mutual
fund systems, plus a technical architect to participate in the design phase of
the project.
• Built a front end transaction service layer for the client’s “Wealth
Management Application Server” to facilitate straight-through-processing of
mutual fund and RSP orders.
• The interface was implemented using HTML, JavaScript and Java Server
Pages and ran on the WebSphere application server using IBM’s MVC Web
UI framework.
• Information was extracted from the Application Server in XML format using
a Java Message Service (JMS) interface.
• The application was delivered on our client’s Intranet. Work continues on
subsequent phases.

• Workflow system for managing small business credit applications
• Runs on J2EE architecture (JSP, EJB 2.0) using a web (HTML,
Javascript) front-end
• Business logic running in the EJB container will be reused by other
market segments (commercial, agriculture)
• The Jonah Group was responsible for requirements analysis, system
design, implementation and project management

Large HMO – Web Infrastructure Redesign

• Redesigned the architecture of a proprietary CORBA-based web
application
• Target platform was WebSphere using standard J2EE components
• The Jonah Group created a technical design, proof of concept and
project plan for porting the application to WebSphere
• Trained our client’s development team
• The system was delivered on-time and under budget

Large HMO – HIPAA Compliance
• Designed a solution to bring a complex health care web application into
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance
• The Jonah Group derived detailed Business Requirements and Technical
Design documents, and designed and implemented all HIPAA translator
components. Jonah also provided Project Management for the technical
build phase
• The introduction of HIPAA compliance components was achieved non-
invasively, to leverage existing legacy code. A gradual migration strategy
allowed the co-existence of before/after functionality to allow users to come
up to speed with the new HIPAA codes and formats at their own pace
