Welcome to the the first first Green SMS Service for Kenya The Green SMS Service is offered by the Greening Kenya Initiative (GKI), a flagship programme coordinated by the Office of the Prime Minister of Kenya, which main aim and objective is to catalyse demand-driven green consumerism, backed by a strong, green industrial revolution and enhanced environmental protection through public participation in green initiatives. Through the service people interested in environmental sustainability, the green economy and green consumerism, can receive the latest news no matter where in the country they are. The subscriber has different option to subscribe to the Green SMS Service. In general to subscribe to a group of the Green SMS Service the person only has to send a SMS with the keyword to the number of the Service. The number is: 07190719-246677 The costs are only those of a regular SMS to a Safaricom line. Receiving the SMS from the Green SMS Service is free. In case people wish to unsubscribe, they just have to write a SMS with the keywords to the number. Every mobile phone number can be subscribes to as many different groups as the person would like. For the subscribers there are almost no costs involved to use the SMS Service. To subscribe to each group the subscriber needs to send a SMS with the keyword to the number of the SMS Service. The costs for sending the SMS does not differ from sending a SMS text to any other normal mobile phone number in Kenya.

To unsubscribe the user just have to write EXIT before the group keyword.
