Why Go Green?
1) It minimizes the degradation of the environment: Green Technology helps to minimize the environment degradation and thus helps to preserve it. 2) It has a zero or low green house gas (GHG) emission: Following Green Technology is advantageous in the sense that the green house gases emission is minimal and zero in some cases. 3) It is safe for use and promotes healthy and improved environment for all forms of life: Green technology is extremely safe for usage. It is easy to use and apply in our regular lives. The environment it promotes is healthy. 4) It conserves the use of energy and natural resources: As we all know, green technology promotes sustainable use of resources. Hence, it aims at minimal wastage of non-renewable resources like energy and fuel. 5) It promotes the use of renewable resources. 6) It helps to solve the problems of destruction of the environment and natural resources 7) It helps to increase health levels and the quality of life 8) It helps to conserve the ecosystem as well as costs to the government in overcoming the negative effects from development 9) It is an alternative to improving the national economy without harming the environment
10) Probably most well-known as "global warming", the science behind climate change is one of the most hotly debated topics among many people today. Although it is often a huge motivator behind the green movement, there are still those who fail to acknowledge its validity, many others who feel helpless and very few who ask the real question: Man-made or not, does it really matter? 11) The Economy: Choosing a sustainable lifestyle will obviously impact your choices as a consumer. For some of us, the positive impact of living simply and sustainable is increased by the impact on our local economy. For instance, buying from local farms means supporting neighbours whose success is directly related to your health and the health of the environment. 12) Climate Change: Probably most well-known as "global warming", the science behind climate change is one of the most hotly debated topics among many people today. Although it is often a huge motivator behind the green movement, there are still those who fail to acknowledge its validity, many others who feel helpless and very few who ask the real question: Man-made or not, does it really matter
CONCLUSION
We live in a closed biosphere, we only have one planet and we need it to live. Despite what commercials say, going green isn't about buying the latest gadget or bamboo linens, it is about making choices that are sustainable. We need to reduce pollution, we are running out of clean drinkable water, our air is making us sicker and the amount of land where we can grow food is shrinking. We need to find new energy sources, oil or petroleum is highly polluting and will run out, and before it do we will fight wars for control of it if we are still dependant on it. We need to conserve resources for 2 reasons, we rely on many of them to survive, like trees, not only for shelter, but to create oxygen and the other is we are running out of places to bury the waste. We have new landfills being built every year and we are limited on where they can go. On the East coast where the population is denser many states have 2 options, burn it and contribute to more air pollution or ship it to another state and pay a lot more for waste removal. Another area to consider is our food, more of it is manufactured instead of grown, and all these empty calories are killing us. We have a huge increase in obesity and all the diseases that go with it. For the 1st time in history our children have a shorter life expectancy than we do. Not to mention the amount we waste and the worldwide impact of our eating habits, all the rain forest being clear cut to make way for our crops when we have the resources to grow the food here. I eat a local, organic diet to have a healthier more nutritious lifestyle, reduce the transportation effects of my food as well as support my local economy.
