REESTABLISHING LANDING CURRENCY OF PART 135 PILOTS. 14 CFR 135.247 requires that each pilot-in-command (PIC) operating under Part 135 accomplish at least 3 takeoffs and 3 landings in an aircraft of the same category and class within the preceding 90 days. If a PIC is required to hold a type rating, the PIC must have accomplished the three landings in that type of airplane. If night operations are authorized, a PIC must have made three takeoffs and landings during the period extending from 1 hour after sunset to 1 hour before sunrise, in an aircraft or in a Level B, C, or D simulator, of the same category and class within the preceding 90 days. A PIC who has become unqualified because of a failure to accomplish the required landings may requalify by completing either competency check as specified in 14 CFR 135.293 or by completing a recency-of-experience qualification module.

Multiple Curriculums of a Single Category. (8900.1, Vol 3, Chapter 19, Section 1, Para 3-1077) Operators may develop and have multiple curriculums approved for any single duty position and aircraft type. For example, an operator may have one initial new-hire curriculum approved for pilots with minimum hours and without any previous revenue experience. A second curriculum could then be approved for pilots previously qualified in service in the type of aircraft for which training is being conducted. Operators that develop multiple curriculums must carefully specify the qualifications of students in each curriculum. Pilots who have received and successfully completed training and checking from Contract Training Providers or another 14 CFR Part 135 FAA approved Training Program may be credited for a portion or all of, the aircraft ground and aircraft flight training curriculum segments. Documentation for previous training and checking must include a record of training, appropriate checking form. In all cases, documentation to support the credit for previous training or checking must provide adequate detail to determine the equivalency of the training. The required documentation must be retained in the pilots currency record required by 14 CFR 135.63. Credit for previous experience may be granted by the Director of Operations or the Administrator. When credit is granted, the pilots records must include an annotation to show that credit was issued. This does not change the individual certificate holders responsibility to ensure that a pilot is properly trained and meets the requirements of that certificate holders training program. Credit for previous flight experience in the aircraft may be determined by the date of the most recent flight checks in the assigned aircraft type. Applicants must have completed a proficiency check in accordance with 135.293/297, 61.55 or 61.56 as appropriate. The chart below identifies the proper curriculum based on the pilot's previous flight experience in the assigned aircraft type. The certificate holder is responsible for the curriculum selection and for the verification of previous flight checks.
