The Format for the Project Report

B.Tech(CSE/IT)-VIIIth Sem

Chapter 1

GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS

1. 1 FORMAT FOR THE REPORT The project must be Card-board Bounded with Lamination Sheet. (Spiral binding and other forms of binding will not be accepted). The project report must be submitted in Two Copies duly signed by the Guide (One for department and one for guide) for each group .However the student may keep a copy for them also. The project should be neatly typed on one side and in A4 size Paper only. Following typing Instructions should be followed. 1.2 PAGE SIZE AND LAYOUT All material on each page should fit within a rectangle of 18 23.5 cm (7" 9.25"), centered on the page, beginning 1 cm (0.75") from the top of the page and ending with 2.54 cm (1.5") from the bottom. The right and left margins should be 1.9 cm (.75"). The Page should have mirror margin. Maximum number of pages in report may be about 60 page. 1.2.1 Page Numbering and Header and Footer 1.2.1.1 Header and footer Do not include headers or footers in your submission. 1.2.1.2 Page Number Page numbers should in centre and in TIMES New ROMAN 1.3 NORMAL OR BODY TEXT The body text is set in 12-point Times New Roman. No other font will be accepted. There should be 1.5 line spacing. The indentation should be justified. There should a margin of (6 pt) before and after each paragraph. The indentation for first line in each paragraph is 0.2.

1.4 TITLE The title of any chapter will be (Helvetica or Arial 18-point bold), centre aligned. 1.5 REFERENCES AND CITATIONS Footnotes should be Times (Roman) 9-point. The format of references is a

numbered list at the end of the article, ordered alphabetically by first author, and referenced by numbers in brackets e.g. [1]. 1.6 HIERARCHICAL SECTION HEADINGS The heading of a section should be in Times (Roman) 12 point bold in all-capitals flush left. Sections and subsequent subsections should be numbered and flush left. The heading of subsections should be in Times (Roman) 12 point bold with only the initial letters capitalized. (Note: For subsections and subsubsections, a word like the or a is not capitalized unless it is the first word of the header.) The heading for sub subsections (or lower) should be in Times (Roman) 11-point italic with initial letters capitalized.

Chapter 2

COMPONENTS REPORT
2.1 INTRODUCTION

The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and bound should be as follows: 1. Cover Page & Title page 2. Declaration by the Student 3. Certificate by the Guide 4. Acknowledgment 5. Abstract 6. Table of Contents 7. Chapters 8. Appendices 9. References (if any) 2.2 PREPARATION FORMAT 2.2.1 Cover Page Title Page will include Title, Name of the Candidate (University roll No.), Name of Guide, Regional center name with University Name (and emblem) and Place, Month and Year of submission. (Refer Annexure- I).

Declaration by the Student: Refer Annexure- II Certificate by the Guide: Refer Annexure-III Acknowledgements: The candidate may thank all those who helped in the preparation of project.

Abstract Abstract (or summary) of the report should, in one page, include: the purpose of the study; the methodology used; and a summary of the major findings, conclusions and recommendations.

2.2.6.1 Refer Annexure-V Main Body of the Project: This is core aspect of your project giving in detail your project work. The project may be divided into 3 to 4 Chapters with suitable Titles, the first Chapter being Introduction and the last being Conclusion. 2.2.7 Appendices: Appendices are provided to give supplementary information, which is included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme.

2.2.7.1 Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Appendix 1, Appendix II, etc. 2.2.7.2 Appendices, Tables and References appearing in appendices should be numbered and referred to at appropriate places just as in the case of chapters. 2.2.7.3 Appendices shall carry the title of the work reported and the same title shall be made in the contents page also.

2.3 LIST OF REFERENCES The listing of references should be typed 2 spaces below the heading REFERENCES in alphabetical order in single spacing left justified. Should be numbered consecutively (in square [] brackets, throughout the text and should be collected together in the reference list at the end of your report. The references should be numbered in the order they are used in the text. The name of the author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details.

2.3.1 A Typical Illustrative List Given Below Relates to the Citation Example Quoted above.
