On March 21, the Chamber testified before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on the Fiscal Year 2013 State Budget proposed by the Christie Administration. Virtua Health and Wellness Center Voorhees

Its our mission to provide people with easy access to a variety of services to meet every health and wellness need, says Richard P. Miller, Virtua President and Chief Executive Officer. As we face healthcare reform, outpatient services such as those provided in the Voorhees Health and Wellness Center, will become an even more vital part of the healthcare system. Additional services will be added at the Voorhees Health and Wellness Center throughout 2012. Two keystone services, scheduled to open this summer, are a Pediatric Specialty Center including CHOP at Virtua and the Virtua Joint Replacement Institute. Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) physicians will have a large presence in the Health and Wellness Center. South Jerseys pediatric population will have access to a variety of specialists, diagnostic imaging and a sleep lab. The Virtua Joint Replacement Institute will occupy the entire fourth floor of the Health and Wellness Center and will specialize in short stay and same day total knee and hip surgery. Unlike other knee replacement options, surgeons at the Institute do not cut the quadriceps tendon so patients recover faster and get back to their lives sooner. In addition to physician offices and specialty services like cancer care and same-day surgery, the Center will also house a pharmacy and a pediatric retail shop, both for patient convenience. n May 2011, Virtua Voorhees hospital moved from its Evesham Road location to its brand new campus on Route 73 in Voorhees, New Jersey. The new campus provides space for not only a 368-bed, 680,000-square-foot hospital but also a 300,000-squarefoot Health and Wellness Center (HWC), which opened on March 5, 2012. The first services to open in the HWC include: Summit Surgical Center Virtua Fox Chase Cancer program including radiation oncology, research and support services Virtua Center for Women Outpatient Laboratory Preadmission Testing Diagnostic Sleep Center This new Health and Wellness Center, combined with a full-service hospital, provides patients with easy access to a broad continuum of healthcare services. The Health and Wellness Center is part of Virtuas network of services for wellness and prevention, outpatient services and acute care to meet the needs of the residents in Camden, Gloucester, Burlington and surrounding counties.

Davis testified that these tax credits, including the net operating loss carry forward, SCorporation tax decrease, research and development and technology tax credits, phasing out the Transitional Energy Facility Assessment (TEFA) and changing the single sales factor formula, are bringing much needed tax relief to some of our members. Ms. Daviss testimony also provided support for the 10 percent across the board income tax cut, which will bring additional tax relief to small business. The Chamber will continue to work with the Governor and State Legislature to implement these proposals and pass a budget that recognizes the economic realities of the State and provide much-needed assistance to the New Jersey business community. On April 30, 2012 private sector employers will be required to post a notice by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) notifying employees of their right to organize into a union, join and assist a union and to act together to improve wages and working conditions. This rule, developed by the NLRB, has gone through court challenges by the employer community which ultimately was unsuccessful.
