Trong tiếng Anh thân mật chúng ta có thể dùng say + to-inf trong câu tường thuật.

B. REPORTED SPEECH with GERUND (Câu gián tiếp với động danh từ):

Mệnh đề danh động từ (-ing clause) có thể được dùng thay cho mệnh đề that (that-clause) trong lời nói gián tiếp

mention, propose, prevent, recommend, report, suggest, think of…
Ex: “You stole my pen”. He accused me of stealing his pen.
