This song was originally composed for a 4th grade class play. The children performed it
with an accompanying dance and sang it with great gusto! Perhaps your children will
enjoy singing this, as well, in tandem with your study of Norse Mythology.

“The Cuckoo Song” is a traditional German folksong welcoming the coming of day. This song
can be sung in unison with younger children, and becomes a well-loved and rousing round for
ages nine and up. You can play with the tempo and dynamics, going faster or slower and
alternating between loud and soft as you wish.
