Vishwamitra
व वा म तु
म षहु कारे णा भभ यताम ् ।
वि त राघवयोर तु जयं चैवा यभाषत ।। 1.26.14 ।।
Brahmarshi Viswamitra threatened her with hunkara (menacing sound), uttering, "Auspices to the Raghavas (Rama and Lakshmana) be
auspiciousness and success" victorious.
Janaka
इयं सीता मम सुता सहधमचर तव।

ती छ चैनां भ ं ते पा णं ग ृ णी व पा णना ।। 1.73.27 ।।
"This my daughter Sita will be your partner in performing her rightful duty. Accept her. Farewell. Take her hand into your own."
Dasharatha
राम य वचनं ु वा राजा दशरथ सुतम ् ।

बाहु यां स प र व य मिू न चा ाय राघवम ् ।। 1.77.5 ।।
गतो राम इ त ु वा ट: मु दतो नपृ : ।
पन
ु जातं तदा मेने पु मा मानमेव च ।। 1.77.6 ।।
On hearing the words 'Parasurama has departed' from Rama, king Dasaratha embraced him and kissed his forehead. The king, immensely happy,
felt he and his son were reborn.
Ayodhya-vasis
ि यो व ृ धा त य च सायं ात समा हताः ।

सवान ् दे वान ् नम यि त राम याथ यशि वनः ।। 2.2.52 ।।
Women, young and old alike devoutly invoke at dusk and at dawn all the gods for the sake of the celebrated Rama.
Sita
प तस मा नता सीता भतारम सते णा ।

आ वारमनुव ाज म गला य भद युषी ।। 2.16.21 ।।
Sita, treated with respect by her husband and having black eyes, followed her husband up to the door, thinking of auspicious things in her mind.
Kaushalya
यं पालय स धम वं ध ृ या च नयमेन च।
स वै राघवशादल
ू धम वाम भर तु।। 2.25.3 ।।
The dharma which you are carrying out with courage and self-discipline, O tiger among the descendants of Raghu will alone protect you.

Rishis
ते तं सोम मवो य तं वा वै धमचा रणम ् ।।3.1.11।।

ल मणं चैव वा तु वैदेह ं च यशि वनीम ्।
म गला न यु जानाः यग ृ ण ढ ताः ।।3.1.12।।
The sages, steadfast in their vows, saw Rama who was shining like the rising Moon, Lakshmana and the famed Sita went forward and received
them with words of benediction.
Jatayu
याम ् ओष धम ् इव आयु मन ् अ वेष स महा वने |

सा दे वी मम च ाणा रावणेन उभयम ् तम ् ।। 3.67.15 ।।
O Long-lived one!, she who you are searching in the forest like herbal medicine has been carried away by Ravana along with my life.
Hanuman
आयता च सुव ृ ा च बाहवः प रघोपमाः ।

सवभष
ू णभष
ू ाहाः कमथ न वभू षताः || 4.3.14 ।।
'Your long arms and spherelike shoulders appear as strong as iron clubs. Although they deserve to be decked with ornaments, how is it they are
unadorned?
Sugriva
म े यूहे नये चारे यु तो भ वतुमह स |

वानराणाम ् च भ म ् ते परे षाम ् च पर तप || 6.17.20
"O, annihilator of enemies! You ought to be aware of the design, distribution, leading of the army and the secret service of the monkeys and also of
your foes. May good come to you!"
