1 Introduction
This document describes the procedure for updating the LabSolutions LCMS ver.5.118.
2.1.2 Notes for Changing the system database (When updating from
Ver.5.99SP1 or earlier)
In LabSolutions LCMS version 5.99SP1 and later, the system database has been changed
from MDB (Microsoft Access Database) to SQL Server for enhanced system stability.
As the result, with version 5.99SP1 and later, the SQL Server patch is automatically
installed immediately after the initial installation, and the installer adds the system database
folder (C:\LSS_DB folder).
Also, if using anti-virus software, add the following folders to the exclusion target in addition
to the old folders. (Refer to Release Notes Section 2.3.6 for details.)
C:\LSS_DB
C:¥Program Files¥Microsoft SQL Server
-1-
[64bit OS]
C:\Program Files (x86)\Shimadzu\License Management Tools
[32bit OS]
C:\Program Files\Shimadzu\License Management Tools
The backup is complete when the message "The backup is finished." Is displayed.
As a result, a file named ‘LabSolutionsBackup [version number].zip’ is created in the C:
\LabSolutions\System folder, so be sure to check that the file has been created.
Notes: If the icon is red, right-click the icon and select [Start]. The icon will turn yellow and
the system will attempt to start up for approximately 15 minutes. This operation may cause
the icon to turn green. Please try it.
If the icon is red, LabSolutions cannot be updated successfully. If it does not turn green
after restarting PC, LabSolutions needs to be restored.

checking function before uninstalling.

using the USB license dongle)
Note: Disconnect external hard drives or USB flash drives before Uninstallation/Installation.
Note: Be sure to log into Windows as a user with “administrator” to uninstalling or installing
software.
2. Remove the USB license dongle, external hard drive, and USB flash drive before uninstalling or
installing.

LabSolutions LCMS.)
Note: The SkyPDF software must be uninstalled before LabSolutions LCMS can be uninstalled.
Note: If a sub-window such as the following opens during the uninstallation, select [Automatically
close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete] and click [OK].
-3-
If the [Maintenance Complete] window is not displayed, make sure [SkyPDF XX] is not in the

5. Click [Finish].
7. Check the details about the software to be deleted and then click [Uninstall].

C:\Program Files(x86)\LabSolutions ("C:" refers to the Windows system drive in 64-bit

installation. Make sure [Regional and Language Options] and [Date and time] settings in
the [Control Panel] window are consistent with the installation language setting.
2. Click [LabSolutions].
-6-
Note: This message is not displayed if Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 is already installed.
