1 PURPOSE
This document describes the different preparation steps that must be achieved before the installation of
the PAS/PIDS system on the IT equipment, in order to ensure a compatible IT environment.
It includes the configuration of the OS and the installation of one or several software components on the
machines.

2 FIELD OF APPLICATION
This document applies to the IT equipment of PAS/PIDS system for DMRC Phase-III project.

5 WORKSTATIONS PREPARATION

5.1 Common part

OS Installation:
 Set a user name (if not automatically set)
 Set a password

No particular requirements about hard drive’s partitions (only one “C:” partition is sufficient).

Network parameters:
 Set a fixed IPv4 address
 Disable Windows firewall:

Keyboard’s layout (language) parameters:

1. English (US): set it as the default keyboard language
2. Hindi (Devanagari): set it as the second keyboard language

Microsoft .NET Frameworks installation:

 From the “Uninstall a program” page, click on “Turn Windows features on or off”:
o Activate the “Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1” (do not need to activate both “Windows
Communication Foundation” lines)
 Install “Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1”

Microsoft Visual C++ installation:

 Install “Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)”

5.2 Local & Central Announcers Workstation

This part applies to the preparation of the Local & Central Announcers Workstation PCs only.

Microsoft Visual C++ installation:

 Install “Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x86) – 11.0.61030”

5.3 NMS Workstation

This part applies to the preparation of the NMS Workstation PC only.

Java Runtime installation:

 Install “Java SE Runtime Environment 8 (x86)”

5.4 Administration Workstation

This part applies to the preparation of the Administration Workstation PC only.

Java Runtime installation:

 Install “Java SE Runtime Environment 8 (x86)”

Apache server installation:

 Install “Apache 2.2.25 Win32 x86 No SSL”

6 LOCAL SERVERS PREPARATION

OS Installation:
 Set a user name (if not automatically set)
 Set a password

You must have two partitions on the Hard Drive Disk (partitions “C:” and “D:”), each partition should contain
around 50% of the total memory space.

Network parameters:
 Set a fixed IPv4 address
 Disable Windows firewall:

In Windows Update, select “Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them”.

Microsoft .NET Frameworks installation:

 Activate the feature “.NET Framework 3.5.1 Features”, then:
o Check the “.NET Framework 3.5.1” (do not need to check the other line “WCF…”)
 Install “Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1”

 Install “Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86”
 Install “Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)”

Java Runtime installation:

 Install “Java SE Runtime Environment 8 (x86)”

Install SQL Server (offline, or via the Web Platform Installer):

 Install “SQL Server Express 2008 R2 SP2”
 Install “SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio Express with SP1”

Database preparation:
 Configure the SQL server, for this launch “SQL Server Configuration Manager”:
o Inside “SQL Server Network Configuration/ Protocols for SQLEXPRESS”, enable Named
Pipes, TCP/IP and VIA
o Start the “SQL Server Browser” service

FTP server configuration:

 Install IIS: for this, open “Server Manager/Roles/Add Roles/Web Server (IIS)/”, check “FTP Server”,
then validate

Apache server installation:

 Install “Apache 2.2.25 Win32 x86 No SSL”

7 CENTRAL SERVERS PREPARATION

7.1 Common part
