INTRODUCTION

Water conservation includes all the policies, strategies

and activities to sustainably manage the natural
resource of fresh water, to protect the hydrosphere,
and to meet the current and future human demand.
Population, household size and growth and affluence all
affect how much water is used. Factors such as climate
change have increased pressures on natural water
resources especially in manufacturing and agricultural
irrigation.[1] Many countries have already
implemented policies aimed at water conservation,
with much success.
Although the earth is rich in water, only one percent is
liquid fresh water, the form we require for our highest
priority needs. The demands on this liquid fresh water
are growing, and many scientists feel that a future
shortage of fresh water will be eminent. Water
conservation and management emphasizes water
quality protection, a growing area of employment and
environmental concern.
IMPORTANCE
All plants, animals and human beings need water to
stay alive. But human beings depend on water more
than plants and animals. We need water for many other
purposes such as:
We need water for the day -to- day activities such as
bathing, cleaning, drinking, washing, etc.
Water helps in the dispersal of seeds and fruits.
It helps needed for irrigation.
All industries use a large amount of water for cleaning,
heating, cooling, generating electricity, as a raw
material, etc.
Water is used for transport and recreation too.
Water has properties of fluidity and solubility. These
properties make it useful in the process of digestion,
blood circulation and excretion. Water also helps in
regulation of our body temperature by the process of
sweating.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of water conservation efforts include:
Ensuring the availability of water for future
generations where the withdrawal of freshwater from
an ecosystem does not exceed its natural replacement
rate.
Energy conservation as water pumping, delivery and
wastewater treatment facilities consume a significant
amount of energy. In some regions of the world over
15% of total electricity consumption is devoted to
water management.
Habitat conservation where minimizing human water
usage helps to preserve freshwater habitats for local
wildlife and migrating waterfowl, but also water
quality.

PROJECT WORK
METHODOLOGY
1)Rainwater harvesting
2)Sustainable use of groundwater
3)Recreation of traditional water sources
4)Use of advance irrigation methods
5)Flood management system
6)Dam and reservoir construction
7)Adopting water conservation habits
8)Protection of water from pollution

OBSERVATIONS
How much water do you consume on a daily basis?
Conserving water will save you money and will save
freshwater so we can use it for a longer period of time.
We seem to overlook water usage in the United States
and especially in Michigan since we live around the
Great Lakes. Just because we have lots of water around
us does not mean that we can abuse our privilege of
having freshwater. Just doing the little things like
making sure you don't take a long shower or filling
your pool up with water all of the time will reduce your
water usage like never before.

ANALYSIS OF DATA
Water being an ongoing reliable source around the
world, it will not be available forever. When top energy
consumers include the United States and China, along
with environmental factors affecting these two regions,
there is no doubt that this valuable resource will be
limited on Earth.
So as possible as we should save the water by using
various methods. We should save the water as
maximum as possible.Variuous types of organizations
and activities should be carried out in order to
conserve the water.

RESULT AND
CONCLUSIONS
Water conservation means the practice of using water
efficiently to reduce unnecessary wastage of water.
Water conservation is important because fresh clean
water is a limited resource and mankind, animals, birds
and all all life forms need water for survival. Water
pollution is causing scarcity of drinking water in our
cities, towns and almost every where. We must
conserve water in every possible ways. Some ways to
conserve water and prevent wasting of water are:
1) Fix any leak in your toilet and shower quickly.
2) Check for leaks in water pipes both inside and
outside the house.
3) Do not waste water by taking unnecessary long
showers.
4) While brushing your teeth or shaving, turn off the
tap when not in use.
5) Rinse your vegetables in a bowl instead of washing
them in a running water tap.
6) Water your lawn only when it needs it and not as
and when you want to.
7) Plant drought-resistant trees and plants. There are
many beautiful trees and plants which thrive with less
water.
8) Reuse the water for rinsing vegetables for watering
your garden.
9) Use modern efficient irrigation systems.
10) Children love to play under a hose or sprinkler on a
hot day. But this practice is wasteful of precious water
and should be discouraged.
Water is a finite resource. If not managed properly it
will result in acute scarcity in the future. Let us
conserve water for the preservation of human life and
other life forms on Earth.
