SAFETY NOTE: Always wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety shoes, safety
glasses, hard hat, gloves, etc. to handle and install equipment.

Install the Casing Head

1. Run the conductor to the required depth.

2. Determine the correct elevation for the Casing

Head.

3. Examine theCasing Head (Item A1). Verify the

following:
• ring groove and casing hanger seal area are
clean and undamaged
• threads are in clean and in good condition
• bore is free of grease and dirt
RP081365
• all peripheral equipment is intact and undam-
aged

4. Align the Casing Head above the casing.

5. Slowly lower the Casing Head onto the casing.

6. Level the Casing Head, rotate the head to the left

until thread jump is felt to align the threads.

7. Then to the right to the thread manufacturers rec-

ommended optimum torque.

Injection Gun Preparation
7. Maintaining the Injection Gun at ambient temperatures, prepare Test Pump and Injection Gun for injecting P seals.

8. Operate Test Pump to nject fluid into Injection gun.

9. Monitor open end of Injection Pun for signs of plastic packing.

10. After plastic packing begins to flow from open end of Injection Gun continue to inject fluid from Test Pump increasing
pressure an additional 200 to 400 psi.

11. Stop pumping Test Pump and monitor plastic packing movement and pressure on the pressure gauge.

12. Once packing has stopped flowing and the pressure gauge has stabilized observe the reading on gauge and record
the pressure.

NOTE: The pressure recorded will become "0". This is the pressure required to move the plastic packing and is not included
in the actual injection pressure.

EXAMPLE: If the plastic packing begins to flow at 900 psi and the fluid pressure from the Test Pump is increased to 1200 psi,
after allowing the pressure to fall the plastic packing and needle on the pressure gauge cease to move at 850 psi, then 850
psi becomes "0". If the flange rating is 5000 psi and 80% of casing collapse exceeds 5000 psi then the final gauge reading
when the P seal is fully energized will be 5850 psi.

NOTE: The amount of pressure required to force plastic packing to flow from the Injection Gun is dependent on several factors
including outside temperature and the plastic injection gun itself. The example given above is for illustration purposes only.

Install the Tubing Hanger
1. Ensure the Valve Removal Plug is TUBING HANGER TYPE "R"
removed from the outlet on the Spool
and the flow line is properly con-
nected to the valve side of the Spool.

3. Run the tubing as required and space

out appropriately.

4. Examine the Tubing Hanger (Item

B16) . Verify the following: O-ring

• bore is clean and free of debris

2-7/8" EU
• threads are clean and undam- THD
aged
• O-rings of the Hanger are clean
and undamaged

5. Orient the Tubing Hanger down as

illustrated. RP081380

6. Make up the Hanger to the tubing to

the thread manufacturer's recom-
mended optimum torque.

7. Make up a landing Joint to the top of

the Hanger to the thread
manufacturer's recommended
shoulder torque. LANDING JOINT

8. Wipe the bowl of the spool with a

light oil.

WARNING: Excessive oil may prevent a

positive seal from forming.
