    FOREWORD

    This Shop Manual was written to provide necessary information on the maintenance and repair instructions for the

    Model S6S diesel engine designed for industrial equipment. To take full advantage of the features built in the engine

    and industrial equipment on which the engine is installed, service the engine in an orderly manner and observe specified

    requirements when performing overhaul or repair of any unit.

    Keep this Shop Manual in the shop as a ready reference for service personnel who service the engine or equipment.

    The specifications and standard values given in this Shop Manual are subject to change without notice.

    2. The engine Removal Procedure
    2.1 It makes key position “OFF” and it removes the earth
    cable (–) of the battery.

    2.2 It drains the engine oil, cooling water.


    (It refers to the clause preparation 1.3, 1.4.)

    2.3 It removes an air intake hose from the engine.


    (After loosening the hose band, it remove.)

    2.4 It removes two radiator cover.


    (The front cover and the rear cover.)

    2.5 It removes a headguard as occasion demands.

    2.6 It removes a bonnet. (It remove two gas spring and
    it removes the mounting bolt of bonnet hinge.)

    ! CAUTION: When removing two gas spring, the


    support of the bonnet passes away and
    there is possibility to close suddenly at
    the weight of bonnet. Support a bonnet
    with sim tree and so on and work.

    2.7 It removes two nuts in the connection between the


    exhaust manifold and front pipe.)
    (When it is difficult to remove, it removes muffler
    mounting bolt.)

    2.8 It removes radiator hose (upper and lower) and


    removes fan shroud or radiator.

    ! CAUTION: When it moves a radiator hose, there is


    possibility that hot cooling water rush cut.
    Even if it drain out, be careful sufficiently.

    2.9 It removes the electric wiring and the tube of fuel which
    connects to the engine.

    2.10 It makes for a placing transmission to be supported in the wooden block by the bottom of the
    transmission.

    2.11 It hangs with crane and it maintains an engine.

    2.12 It removes bolt and nut of the engine mount part.

    2.13 It removes a pin cotter in the drive shaft in the clutch


    housing and it removes the drive shaft from the clutch
    disk. (The clutch type)

    2.14 It removes the bolt between input plate and flywheel.


    The bolt is ten pieces.
    (The torque converter type.)

    2.15 It removes the bolt of clutch (torque) housingcase.

    2.16 It removes an engine.

    ! CAUTION: When removing an engine, it careful of whether or not the interference in the
    neighborhood. Specifically, it is careful of interference of the radiator, when it is
    difficult to remove, it removes a radiator fan.

    * It does engine installation by the procedure which the removal is opposite to.
