THUMBS (same for both hands and feet)

With Black yarn and using E hook: (Make 4)
Rnd 1: Magic Circle 4
Rnds 2 – 3: sc in each sc, end off weaving in tail.
Using black thread, sew thumbs onto hand as shown in my photo below, making sure
you have a left and right thumb.

Note his muscular little arms!

Bend his hands and tack them in place so that he will be leaning forward on his
knuckles. See my photo.

LEGS
With Charcoal yarn:
Rnd 1: Magic Circle 6 – 6 sc
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around – 18 sc.
Rnds 4 – 9: sc in each sc
Rnd 10: * sc 2 tog, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * around – 15 sc
Rnds 11 – 17: sc in each sc
Start to stuff leg only to about the 12th row. Then you will bend it at this point which
will be his knee. After you bend it, you can continue stuffing the rest of his leg as you
go. If you stuff the knee, you will not be able to bend it.
Rnd 18: * sc 2 tog, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around – 12 sc
Attach black yarn for feet.
Rnd 19: * sc 2 tog, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * around – 10 sc
Rnd 20: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * around – 15 sc
Rnds 21 – 22: sc in each sc
Rnd 23: * sc 2 tog, sc in next sc; rep from * around – 10 sc
Rnds 24 – 25: sc in each sc, stuff foot very lightly, sew end closed, end off.
Using black thread, tack the leg in the bent position as shown in my photo.
Sew thumbs or I guess you could call them toes onto his feet just as you did for his
5

thumbs. Be sure you have a left and right foot. See my photo below:

ASSEMBLY:
Using yarn needle threaded with Toffee yarn, sew his face onto his head snuggly up
against his brow and down the sides at an angle, so that by the 8th stitch down from
the brow you are in line with the last row of the stitches of the head. See my photos
below:

Don’t sew opening closed, but rather attach more Toffee or Charcoal yarn and sc 2 tog
around the opening until it is closed. This part is not critical because it will be hidden
when you sew the head onto the body.

Sew head onto the body, using my photo as a guide for placement. The back of the
head should be in line with the back and the face should come down on the chest a
little.
6

Sew ears onto head as shown.

Sew the arms onto the sides, making sure you place them so that the gorilla is leaning
forward, as gorillas do.

Using my photos as a guide, with black yarn, sew on his little mouth and nostrils. The
nostrils were made using about 3 tiny stitches each. Pull the yarn up in the corners of
his mouth to indent it a little. Attach his eyes using a strong glue.
Attach the Toffee chain 12 piece on his face for the outline of his nose. Stitch it in
place with rust colored thread. This is neater than using yarn. Push it down slightly in
the center between his nostrils.

Optional: I added some more of the fuzzy yarn on top of his head by simply making
7

overcast stitches over the sc stitches. Then I brushed the yarn to make it fuzzier.
Sew legs to sides of body as shown and now I believe you have a complete Gorilla.
Hope you had a smooth time crocheting this little guy!
