COURSE SYLLABUS AND LEARNING PLAN

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a three-unit course, designed to help studentsdevelop their competence in communicating their ideas effectively through
sentence and paragraph construction. It places emphasis on the rhetorical paragraphs of unity, coherence,and emphasis and the
application of such principles in research paper writing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the students shall be able to:


Knowledge:

1. Demonstrate the ability to speak and write clearly for specific purposes.

2. Gain knowledge on the common paragraph development by writing a unified, coherent,and emphatic paragraphs about them.

3. Demonstrate not only literal comprehension skills but inferential skills.

4. Gain an understanding on current issues by actively participating in class discussions onsuch issues

Values

1. Share his/her insights on panel discussions and debates based on the rhetorical acts of paragraph development.

2. Manifest appreciation in the role of English in contemporary times, his/her academic life,and his/her future practice.

3. Integrate positive Filipino Christian values in his/her everyday communication.

4. Apply the basic principles in effective writing of sentences and paragraphs

Skills

1. Write and compose simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentencesfollowing the general rules

2. Write and compose a unified, coherent, and emphatic sentences.

3. Distinguish the structure of an active and passive sentence

4. Demonstrate servant-leadership as the hands and feet of Jesus in the community through teaching others in English Language

COURSE REQUIREMENTS / POLICIES


1. Students are required to attend class sessions on time. Classes shall start at the scheduled time except in some emergency and
special cases. There shall be a ten (10)- minute allowance for students to get to the class after which the door shall be closed
during the remainder of the class session. A student with three (3) unexcused absences shall automatically receive a failing grade.
In cases when a student cannot attend the class, he / she must write a letter to the instructor detailing the reason/s for the absence.
This letter MUST bear his / her pastor’s signature. Failure to present the letter shall be counted as absence from the class.

2. Students are required to do class reporting on the topic given by the instructor and present it on the given scheduled. No
reading of report is allowed on the class and don’t report unprepared. Study and memorize your assign topic to report.

3. Students are required to participate in every class activities, do compilation of assignments, and quizzes inside and outside the
school.

4. Students are required to take the midterm and the final exams. No exemption and no special treatment but must take the exam
on the given schedule.

5. Students are required to do an Individual research regarding the chosen topic they choose and present it at the class at the
completion week. The research topic will be presented through vlog or any video promotions that promotes a well being of a
person. And this should be posted in any social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TIktok etc.) using English Language with
correct grammar usage and effective communication.
