PCS7: X1

PN/PN Coupler version for X1- side, in PCS7 hardware configurations, is located on the down right, on the picture.

In this demo- case, I have selected seven IO- module slot (1-7) to use. In the comment field you may see which kind
data exchange is going on. In the X2- side of S7-1500 PLCs, slots 2-7 are mirrored (PCS7 X1: Slot 2 IN 32 bytes => S7-
1500 PLC Slot 2 OUT 32 bytes).

TIA S7-1500 PLC (TIA 01 / PLC 1): X2

If your TIA Portal doesn’t have the newest version (V2.35), you can download it from
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/23742537

In the demo- case, the used version was V2.34

First you create S7-1500 PLC 1 and then you may drag and drop X2- module and connect it to Network View

Connect PLC 1-CPU and Coupler (X2).

Note: The Profinet name, device number and IP- address MUST be same in all S7-1500 PLCs (X2- side).

Below: Make Slot configuration as below. Note, that in PN-PN-Coupler- & PN-IO-02 rows, Access must be – (= none).

Access- settings: Select accessible slots for PLC 1, other slots must be set – (none => for PLC 2 in this demo case)

Below in the picture, you may see that (red circle) Access setting for Interface of X2- coupler, has to be -

PN/PN Coupler X2- side is a shared device. IO- controller number is not relevant (there might be 1,2,3,4 CPUs).

How, in STEP 7 (TIA Portal), do you configure access to a shared device and the function Module-internal Shared
Input / Shared Output (MSI /MSO)?

Entry

Associated product(s)

The function Module-internal Shared Input / Shared Output (MSI / MSO) allows an input module or output module
to make its input or output data available to up to four IO controllers.

Summary

The basics of the function Module-internal Shared Input / Shared Output (MSI / MSO) are described in the manual
SIMATIC PROFINET PROFINET with STEP 7 V16.

Entry ID 102325771includes an overview of the IO devices that support the MSI / MSO function.

This entry shows how in STEP 7 (TIA Portal) to configure access to a shared device and the MSI / MSO function. You
configure the IO controllers either in two separate projects or in one common project.

In this example an S7-1500 CPU and an S7-300 CPU access as IO controllers the input and output data of an ET 200SP
as shared device.

An input module and an output module are slotted in the ET 200SP. The S7-1500 CPU is to read the inputs and write
the outputs. The S7-300 CPU is to read both the inputs and the outputs.
