IDEAS for CLASSROOM USE

→ CLASSROOM CENTER
I am a learning stations kinda gal!
I love classroom centers and stations to
keep my class engaged and active. With
this setup, I have several different levels of
the activity working at the same time. I
review with each student what activity
they are targeting and away we go!
#EasyDifferentiation

→ IEP GOAL ACTIVITY

There are always goals on budgeting,
counting coins & bills, and making change.
This is my go-to for that! Students are
always more engaged with this type of
activity and it makes for easy data TARGET SKILLS
collection and progress monitoring!
• Number Recognition
→ DIRECT INSTRUCTION MANIPULATIVE
• 1:1 Correspondence
Getting students to learn new skills and • Add & Subtract Whole #s
then generalize them is no easy feat! • Count Out Bills
Somehow when I use these as visual • Count Out Coins
materials to practice 1:1 correspondence • Make Change @ Purchase
as well as bills and coins… students are
• Budgeting
instantly more engaged! Grab these as you
sit down to direct teach money. #ChaChing

SETTING UP
PRINT: Start by printing the activity pages. You can print them on cardstock paper
if you want some heft to it. I suggestion printing them in color. Black and white works
too. I do have a couple sets in black & white… The chips are so recognizable, students
don’t have any problems with identifying them.

PREP: If you think this activity will be in heavy rotation, I suggest laminating them
(try this one for under $20). Laminating helps them last a little longer. I also punch a
hole in the corner so that I can store them on a binder ring– It helps to keep them
together and makes them easy to store using a command hook. Putting a few
command hooks on the wall with several of my go-to math activities means I don’t
have to dig around for them when I need them. #DataDays
