Moral Focus
Self-Control
This month our Moral Focus is Self-Control. Students will be learning and discussing how to maintain patience and calmness during trying circumstances, especially those in which there is no control over the outcome. Please help to reinforce this Moral Focus topic at home by speaking with you child about the benefits of exhibiting Self-Control.

This
Tardy Sweep!
There has been a great improvement
this week with students making better choices about betting to class on time. Thank you for reinforcing the importance of getting to class in a timely manner.
Performance Character
is a reminder that students need to pay closer attention to how they are using their lockers. Lockers are for storage of school belongings. School supplies go in the top locker while coats, shoes, and backpacks go in the bottom. Please note that it is important for all students to stay organized. Also, students need to pay closer attention to the person next to them. They cannot fling the locker doors all the
Students
have three minutes inbetween their classes to gather their belongings, use the restroom, and make it to their next rotation on time. The timer begins when the last rotation is released. If a student fails to make it to their class on time, then a tardy is issued. Please encourage your child to get to class on time to avoid warning letters and detentions. Letters are sent home after three tardies and a detention is issued after five. The tardy count does not start over at the beginning of the new trimester.
Report Cards
Report cards are being sent home today! You will be receiving 2-3 sheets with information about how your child is doing in their classes. Remember that you will not see grades that look like A, B, C, or D. You WILL see scores that look like 3.0, 2.0, 1.0.
Wacky Weather
In Michigan it rains one day, snows the next, and is sunny for the rest of the week. This is a reminder that ALL students need to dress for the weather. Middle school students ate not too cool to wear proper winter attire. Winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, boots, and snow pants are all necessary for warmth during the winter months. Students go outside each day for recess and dismissal. We will go out each day unless it is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
This week in Social Studies students received a review from what they had discovered about Ancient Greece. They brushed up on the history, location, and culture of the great time period in history. Continuing on, the 6th grade students have investigated the Persians and their attacks! Students have been learning how the Persian army was built and the way they lived their lives. In the upcoming week, students will travel to 500 B.C. where they will dive into the Athenian empire and learn what it was like living a day in the life of an Athenian.
Students are now officially in their Models and Design Unit. They have worked to discover an unknown system with their Black Boxes and then created their own Black Boxes to test their families withHAVE FUN!. Next week we will be diving into Hum Dingers!
I can construct a physical and conceptual model of an unknown system. I can evaluate the usefulness of a model as a comparison tool.
If you are interested in assisting with a lab on December 8th and 9th please email Mrs. Lee ASAP.
Cabin Fever
Dont let the cold or the upcoming break affect your childs
academics! Encourage them to get their work done on time if not early. Remember we offer Lunch Bunch on Tuesdays and Thursday as well as No Excuses Club after school from 3:15-4:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you know you have a big event coming up and your child will be pressed for time, these are great opportunities for work completion.
