My name is Vo Le
Bao Ngoc. And here is my partner:
Hang: I’m Nguyen Phan Minh Hang. We are from class 7D of Tran Phu
Secondary school. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to join the
English speaking Contest Exploring the heritage sites of Dak Nong UNESCO
Global Geopark School year 2023-2024 in order to improve our English
speaking skills. In order to learn more about Dak Nong’s natural beauties.
Hang : Its history began 140 millions years ago when an ocean was
covering this area. Limestone, ammonite and various fossils are the silent
witness of this marine past. More recently, volcanoes were there. Their lava
gives the basalt covering half of the area. About 10.000 years ago they were
still active. This territory is also renowned as biggest volcanic cave system in
Southeast Asia where prehistoric people inhabited thousands of years ago.
Dak Nong is as well famous for it’s rich ethnic identity. Originally inhabited
by three indigenous people (M’ Nong, E De and Ma), in the late 70s it has
received numerous people from other provinces to become the homeland
of more than 40 ethnic groups of Vietnam.
With national and international heritage values, Dak Nong was officially
recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark in July of 2020. Dray Sap in E-
de language means "Khoi waterfall", and also known as Chong waterfall.
Not far away there, there is Dray Nur waterfall known to the people as Vo
waterfall. The legend of 2 waterfall is a sad story about a couple is on
either side of the river that very love each other, but their family didn’t
agree, because the couple was too upset about that so they jumped into
Serepok river, and died. At that time, from where the strong wind rose up,
dividing the Serepok River into two branches, branches are the female
branch and the male branch. The male branch was created into the Dray
Sap waterfall and the female branch created the Dray Nur waterfall.
Hang : Coming here in the dry season, you will see the water gently flowing
into the lake bed, and a perfect place for camping. Dray Sap Waterfall is an
ideal place for girls or boys who are passionate about taking pictures and
selfies. School of fish are swimming under the waterfall. Before leaving , we
should do something to protect the waterfall as the environment. As well
planting trees, picking up the trash, don't littering , burning the forest,
hunting for rare animals, and don't cutting too much trees. It’s exciting to
visit Dray Sap waterfall so come and enjoy!
Hang : Being students at Tran Phu Secondary school, we are joining hands
to protect the waterfall. We always propagate preserve and promote values
of Dak Nong Geopark to many other people in our in Viet Nam as well as
over the word.
