STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Since early childhood, I always believed I would choose a career

in the medical field. When I was five years old, I was asked: “what
do you want to be when you grow up”? I always responded by
saying : “ I want to become a doctor or dentist”. I began to pursue
my lifelong goal of becoming a dentist or doctor after enrolling at
the ST JOSEPH DENTAL COLLEGE , ELURU. However, the
more time I spent shadowing and working with people In those
fields, the less I believed that a career as a doctor was right for
me.
I would like to present myself as a highly motivated aspirant with a
desire to learn something new in my field of interest. I am a
Dentist graduated from St Joseph dental college , Eluru which
is affiliated to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences along with
one-year compulsory rotary internship. Today as a freshly
graduated Doctor , I perceive that life for me has been a constant
evolution. The most integral part of this growth is the value
system imbibed in me by my family, teachers, my mentors and
intrigued liking for science .
Science and math have always been fascinating to me since my
childhood. One word that defines my journey is
PERSERVERANCE. In my professional life , I have been faced
situations that require a high level of focus, hard work and
maturity to see them through.
During my internship I was posted in various departments where
gained immense exposure to patients , health care services and
management I learned that practical work and experience is more
important than theoretical learning in our profession.
I became more interested with why a certain patient has got the
disease, how it’s spreading, and what could be done to prevent
the next person from getting the disease. Although I once thought
the idea of becoming a doctor seemed fantastic, I knew it did not
fit the criteria I was looking for. Those led to an interest in the
study of public health.
Throughout my undergraduate education, I was exposed to wide
range of classes; however I was much interested in PUBLIC
HEALTH DENTISTRY. My first introduction to public health was
from this Department. The idea of finding out what causes a
disease and how it spreads and then using that information to
save lives and money convinced me to look further into the MS IN
PUBLIC HEALTH. I attended more seminars and met with public
health leaders at many events. These activities confirmed my
strong interest, and I was convinced the field of public health was
exactly what I had been looking for. I was drawn to the idea of not
only focusing on one-on-one patient care that doctors provide, but
also solving problems that affect the health of entire populations.
The study of disease and health within populations; for instance,
preventing disease , promoting health, and reducing health
problems between groups are the main reasons I want to pursue
Master’s in PUBLIC HEALTH focusing on epidemiology. These
are my strongest interest because I believe they are important in
improving our world’s health.
I have been awarded with a certificate of commitment to promote
safety against COVID-19 , conducted by WHO. I have
participated INFECTION CONTROL PROGRAM {IPC} for
COVID-19. I was astonished that how a machine can transform a
plain image into a detailed picture of oral cavity of respective
patient.that is when I learnt how technology can influence health
care.
I have also participated in and won prizes in annual sports events
that are conducted in my college every year. I had great chance
to participate I n anti-tobacco rallies and rehabilitation camps,
blood donation camps. I have conducted many seminars on road
safety measures and camps: blood grouping in road traffic
accidents to create awareness to people in my town and villages
nearby.
I consider PUBLIC HEALTH as the desirable branch for my
masters degree as it is a field of health . Though I am a dentist my
interest in PUBLIC HEALTH kept me search for the program
where I can pursue it. With right technology we can prevent many
diseases at the primary level rather than at the tertiary level.
I am the one of those who dreamt of having a higher studies in
USA. The availability of academic ambience and good
infrastructure facilities for research attracted me to choose USA
as the natural destination for graduate studies and research. The
USA in the land of quality universities and treasure of
opportunities, to those who look for US degrees have an excellent
international reputation and academic standards, which always
attract students to pursue their masters and to find wonderful
careers.
Attending your university will be a first step on my path to success
and achieving my goals. Besides, I am aware of the fact that
pursuing this course requires a high level of intelligence,
dedication and hardwork, but my inherent quality of concentration
and perseverance would overcome this tough barrier. While my
goal is to lean explore and gain new experiences in PUBLIC
HEALTH.
The course content of Master in PUBLIC HEALTH will help me to
extent my knowledge and will give me the broad-based
education . My admission into your esteemed university will help
me endeavor and set me up for lifetime learning and I look
forward to the opportunity to pursue a 2-year full-time master’s
degree in your reputed university.
