Content Standard: The learner demonstrates of pre-

colonial Philippine literature as means of connecting to


the past, various reading styles; ways of determining
word meaning the sounds of English and the prosodic
features of speech and correct suject- verb agreement

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will able to:
a. Identify the correct subject- verb afreement in the
sentence;
b. Construct own sentences using correct subject- verb
agreement; and
c. Materials: White screen, projector, Laptop

II. Subject Matter

b. Refference: Egipito, J.J (n,d). Writing Business Letter
(2011th ed.).

Q1. What is sentence?
Q2. What are the parts of the sentence?

3. Motivation
The teacher will present a short clip video in the class.
After viewing the video, the stuents will be able to
answer the questions. The teacher will use the
randomizer app in order to call students randomly.
-What have you observed in the video?
-Have you notice that there was a disagreement between
two people?

4. Lesson Presentation
Agreement between the subject and the Verb

1. The verb must agree with the subject in person and


number.
First person- I,we
Example: I want to be a tourist
We are suffering from this pandemic.

Second person - you


Example: You need to submit the requirements.
You are a funny man.
Third person- he,she,they,it and all otnher things are in
the third person.
Example: He plays the piano well.
-They play in the rain.
-The childer are happy.
-Our house is far here.

2. Verbals such as gerunds and infinitives used as


singular subjects takes singular verbs.
Examples:
- To dream is to live fully
- Jogging has never been my passion.

A. Activity
“Pak! Wan!”
-The teacher will divide the class into four(4) groups.
-Each group has designated name which called as “Pak”
instead of group.
-The teacher will start the game by calling each group
from Pakwan to Pakfour and the group that is being
called will stand up.
-To those group who fail to stand or even one single
member delayed to stand will answer the question that
the teacher has provide.
-The teacher will present the sentences on the screen.
There are enclosed words in the sentence that they need
to identify, which one is the correct verb or word to make
the sentence coreect.
1.) I (hate, hates) you.
2.) We (need, needs) to cooperate.
3.) She (has, have) a power.
4.) Drinking water (is, are) good for you health.
5.) Swimming (is, are) one of the recreational activities.

B. Analysis
- How do you find the activity?
- How does the activity help you to know more about
subject – verb agreement?
C. Abstraction
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of using
correct subject-verb agreement?
- Why do the subject and the verb have to agree?
- Express the importance of knowing the correct usage of
subject and the verb in the sentence.
D. Application

“Do the Reporting”


- The class will be divided into two groups
- The groups will be construct athleast five(5)
sentences using correct subject-verb agreement.
- They will be given five minutes to do the activity.
- Each group will choose one representative to
report what the group constructed.
- The teacher will check their answers and will be
rated based on the given criteria.
Criteria:
Correctness of sentences 10 pts.
Presentation 5 pts
Cooperation 5 pts
TOTAL 20 pts.

IV. Evaluation

Direction: Underline the word that will make


the sentence correct.

V. Asignment:
Direction: In one sheet of paper, write atleast ten(10)
examples of the correct subject-verb agreement.
