Princess Ornaments – Alice Crochet Pattern

Pattern Details

Size:
The finished princess made with the suggested materials stands approx.
21 cm (8.3 inches) tall. Changing to a different yarn weight and hook
size will result in a different sized doll.

Skill Level Needed:


Intermediate – You have to be familiar with basic crochet stitches – such
as single and double crochet – and with how amigurumi is made and
assembled.

Materials Needed:
4-ply milk cotton in the following colors: color A (1 skein) - white #01,
color B (1 skein) - beige #03, color C (1 skein) - light yellow #10, color D
(1 skein) - sky blue #18, color E (5 grams) - black #34, color F (1 m / 3.2
feet) - dark coffee #32

 1.8 mm crochet hook  One 10 cm wood slice

 Fiberfill (50 grams)  12*12 cm model grass mat

 Four 10 mm, half round plastic  Scissors


eyes in black  Tapestry needle
 Weighted beads (5 grams)
 Stitch marker
 Two chenille stems

 Two 9 mm two-hole buttons in  PVA glue

Notes:
 Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.

 All stitches are worked in both loops unless stated otherwise in the
pattern.

 Work in continuous rounds unless it is stated otherwise in the pattern.

 You can either weave in the yarn ends or hide them in the stuffing.
You can even secure them with a knot if you’d like. It won’t affect the
finished look.

 When the pattern does not give directions, attach the pieces to
wherever you want them. You may use the pictures as a guide.

Use color B

Round 1: 7 sc in a magic ring = 7

Round 2-16: 7 sc (15 rounds) = 7

Fasten off, weave the yarn tail in.

Fold two chenille stems as shown in the picture, and insert them into the
arms.

Body and head


Use color A

Round 1: 8 sc in a magic ring = 8 Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 8 = 32

Trace the base of the body onto a piece of cardboard or plastic and cut
out the circle. Fit it inside the body. Put in 13-14 weighted beads (or
enough the cover the bottom) and start stuffing the body as you go.

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Weave the tail through the front loops of the last
round and pull it tight to close the opening. Hide the remaining tail.

Ear x 2
Use color B

Work in rows.

Row 1: 6 sc in a magic ring = 6

Row 2: tch, 6 sc = 6

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the ears on the head between rounds


15-17, counting from the top.
Mark the position of the eyes, eyebrows and nose with straight pins as
such:

 Eyes: between rows 15-16 of the head,


counting from the top, 11 sts apart

 Eyebrows: 3 rounds above the eyes, 4 sts


long, 7 sts apart

 Nose: 3 rounds below the eyes, 3 sts long

Use yarn B for the nose (make 4 turns), and


yarn F to embroider the eyebrows and eyelashes. Glue the eyes in
place and embroider the eyeliner.

Apply some blush to the cheeks and eyelids.

Base
Trace the wood slice onto the
grass mat. Place the doll in the
middle and trace its base too (see
the pictures below). Cut out this
ring and glue it on the wood slice.
Dress

Bow
Use color E

Work ch 2, 2 hdc, ch 2, sl, ch 2, 2 hdc, ch 2, sl in a magic ring, pull it tight,


cut the yarn. Wrap the tail around the middle two times. Glue the finished
bow to the dress, as shown in the picture.

Put the dress on the doll, and sew the sides of the dress (rows 9-19)
together on the back. Sew buttons on the bodice opposite the
buttonholes.

Apron
Use color A

Work in rows.

Row 1: ch 12, starting from the 3rd chain from the hook 9 hdc, work 5 hdc
into the last stitch, continue working on the other side of the chain: 9 hdc
= 23

Row 2: tch, 9 hdc, 5 hdc inc, 9 hdc = 28


Row 3: tch, 9 hdc, (hdc, hdc inc) x 5, 9 hdc = 33

Row 4: tch, 9 hdc, (hdc, hdc inc, hdc) x 5, 9 hdc = 38

Row 5: (ch 3, skip 1 st, sl) x 19

Fasten off, weave the yarn tail in.

To create ties for the apron ch 50, work 15 sc in the straight edge of the
apron, ch 50. Weave the yarn tails in. Tie it around the doll’s waist.

Hair cap
Use color C

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring = 6 Round 4: (sc, inc, sc) x 6 = 24

Round 2: 6 inc = 12 Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18 Round 6: (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) x 6 = 36


Don’t cut the yarn yet. Continue crocheting on the hair cap. Work on the
wrong side.

Part 1 – Front locks

Work these strands into BLO.

Strand 1: ch 33, starting from the 2nd chain from


the hook 2 sc, (5 sc, inc) x 3, 12 sc, skip 1 st, sl
into the next st
Strand 2: ch 14, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook 13 sc, skip 1
st, sl into the next st

Strand 3-4: ch 43, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook 5 sc, inc, 36
sc, skip 1 st, sl into the next st (2 strands)

Strand 5: ch 14, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook sc 13, skip 1
st, sl into the next st

Strand 6: ch 33, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook 2 sc, (5 sc, inc)
x 3, 12 sc, skip 1 st, sl into the next st

Part 2 – Back locks

Strand 7-18: ch 40, starting from the 3rd chain from the hook 10 hdc,
hdc inc, 27 hdc, skip 1 st, sl into the next st (12 strands)
Part 3 – Bangs

Work into the FLO of strands 1-6

Strand 19: ch 38, starting from the 2nd chain from


the hook sc, (5 sc, inc) x 3, 18 sc, skip 1 st, sl into
the next st

Strand 20: ch 28, starting from the 2nd chain from


the hook 6 sc, inc, 20 sc, skip 1 st, sl into the next st

Strand 21-22: ch 23, starting from the 2nd


chain from the hook 6 sc, inc, 15 sc, skip 1
st, sl into the next st (2 strands)

Strand 23: ch 28, starting from the 2nd chain


from the hook 6 sc, inc, 20 sc, skip 1 st, sl
into the next st

Strand 24: ch 38, starting from the 2nd chain


from the hook sc, (5 sc, inc) x 3, 18 sc, skip
1 sc, sl

Fasten off and weave the yarn tail in.

Pin the strands in place, as seen in the pictures, and glue them to the
head. Make sure that the wrong side of the hair cap is facing up.
Hair bow
Use color E

Work in joined rounds.

Round 1: ch 30, join with sl to form a ring, 30 sc, sl = 30

Round 2-4: ch, 30 sc, sl = 30

Cut the yarn, leave a long tail. Wrap the tail around the middle ten times.
Attach the bow to the hair.

Attach the finished doll to the wooden base.
