CHILD SPECIALIZATION

My expectation on taking the course of child specialization is that I’ll be able to

gain and learn more knowledge about understanding and dealing with children
because all the children have different personality and they should be handle
differently because we cannot use the same technique with every children for
that we need to have skills to handle them and should be train and mould well.
After the completion of my course my plan is to work for children as a counsellor.

Child is considered as an important nation asset and the future

generation depending on how a children is moulded and develop. In this present
time protection of children from all kinds of exploitation and abuses has become
the main objective of our society. The exploitation and abuses that they faces is
also indirectly highlight the failure of the society in protecting the future
generation.

According to Artical 1 of the united Nations Convention on the Right of the child
in 1989, ‘A child means every human being below the age of 18 year. Legal
definition of child tends to depend upon the purpose. There are numbers of
legislation in India which define the term child depending upon the purpose.
Under the Indian majority Act,1875 the age of majority is 18 year and in case of a
minor for whose person and property a guardian is appointed or whose property
is under the supervision of the court of wards the age of majority 21year.

Under the child Labour act , 1986, child means a person who has not completed
his 14 year of age. Under the child marriage restrain act,1926, a child means a
person who has not completed 20 year of age (male) and has not completed 18
year (female).

The united Nation convention on the Right of child (UNCRC) is a comprehensive,

internationally binding agreement on the right of children adopted by the UN
general assembly in 1989. It incorporate child civil and political right, social,
economic and cultural right and protect right. A child define in the UNCR as a
person under the age of 18 year.
Some Constitutional guarantee that are meant specially for children are:

- Article 24A Provide that the state shall provide free and compulsory education
to all children of six to 14 year in such manner as the state may , by law,
determine.

-Article 39(e) provides that no child below the age of 14 shall be employed to
work in any factory or mine or engage in any other hazardous employment.

-Article 45 provides that the state shall endeavour to provide early childhood care
education and care for all children until they complete the age of 6 year.

Children are the most important asset for the future and the greatest gift from
God. Justice V.R Krishna lyre says that it is our obligation to the generation by
opening up all opportunities for every child to unfold its personality and rise to its
full stature physically , moral, mental and spiritually and it is the birth right of
every child that cries for justice from the world as whole.
