Browerville City Council meets the second Thursday of the month at 7 pm in the Browerville City Hall
January city council meeting. This plan has been in the works for several months with input from the MN Department of Health, Rural Water as well as local input. A required 60 day review period will end with the public hearing. The issue of semi trucks and others driving too fast through town was brought to the attention of the council. City Administrator Lynn Fabro will speak to the Todd County Sheriff. Council Members acknowledged and approved a generous donation to the Browerville Ambulance Fund. Proceeds will be used towards the purchase of training equipment. Four bids were received for the used city truck. Dan Scepurik won the bid and will purchase the truck for $450. At 7:27 p.m. the council meeting was adjourned.

Nine out of every 10 scientists who ever lived are alive today. One out of every 300 Americans is a millionaire. Hawaii is farther south than Florida. Maine is the only state with a one syllable name. A Japanese priest set a kimono on fire in Tokyo because it carried bad luck. The flames spread until over 10,000 buildings were destroyed and 100,000 people died. (Year: 1657) The longest operation on record took 96 hours. During February 4 - 8, 1951, surgeons in Michigan removed an ovarian cyst from a woman. When they were done, she weighed 308 pounds less. In Harper Woods, Michigan, it is against the law to paint a sparrow and claim it's a parakeet. There is an actual court case on record named: "The United States v. 350 Cartons of Canned Sardines." It has something to do with interstate commerce. You may not legally own a pair of pliers if you live in Texas. In 1957, United States senator Strom Thurmond made a speech that lasted 24 hours, 19 minutes. In Oklahoma, it's illegal for a baseball player to hit the ball out of the park.

I find I use my crockpots more and more as I find great recipes for main dishes, side dishes, and even desserts. I love the convenience and its great to get home at the end of the day and have the house smell wonderful and know that supper is almost ready to serve.
Place pork roast in slow cooker. Combine brown sugar, seasonings, garlic, tomato paste and chilis; mix well. Spread over pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 9 hours. Just before serving, remove roast and shred with 2 forks. Return to slow cooker and mix well. Spoon 1/2 c pork mixture on each bun. Top with rounded tablespoon of coleslaw.

A measure of success
a perfect location, was still in place. I changed clothes, grabbed my gear, and headed for the timber to hunt for the last couple hours of the day. When I approached the area where my blind was supposed to be, I saw my chair, but no blind. The tent was still being held by one stake but was flipped upside down and over the edge of the ditch. The canvas folding chair was still in place after the raging rain storm, only because the seat will hold about a gallon of water, enough to weigh it down. I dumped the water out of my chair, flipped my tent back into position and nocked an arrow in preparation for the deer that would surely pass by. I sat quietly for a half hour or so, waiting for everything to quiet down. If anything happened to see me wrestling a tent uphill, they should be miles away by then. This waiting period gives a person ample time to measure distances to surrounding trees and check the contents of the blind left from the last hunt. I discovered foil lined cardboard peanut containers get soft and limp in the rain but the peanuts left inside are only minimally damp. A person always gets hungry while waiting and damp peanuts are almost as good as fresh. When I finished off the container of only moderately soggy peanuts, I used my rattling antlers to test the area. Smacking the two shed antlers together sounds like two bucks fighting. During the rut, deer will come from near and far to watch the fight. Before long, I could see something moving in the thick brush across the creek. I clashed them together again. A young ten point buck came toward me and stopped within range just off to my right. The only deer I was going to take was a doe for meat or a really big buck to hang on the wall. Medium sized deer would have to wait a year or two if they wanted to make my freezer. I still could not resist playing with him. When he turned to walk up the creek bank, I rattled again. This time he came back, standing directly in front of me in the creek bottom, and stared at the blind. After a few minutes, something spooked him and he bounded off into the timber. I rattled again and again he came back to investigate. By the time he lost interest in the fight he could not find, it was getting dark. No more deer came in and I didnt get meat for the freezer, but I consider it a successful hunt when a person can call in deer and watch them up close. Dear Readers,
By Walter Scott Thursday morning was cold, the wind was blowing, and rain was coming down in sheets. It makes me glad, some days I have to go to work. If I werent working, I would feel obligated to go hunting. The deer rut is in full swing and its only a matter of time before the deer of ones liking passes by. The deer are running around like crazy and will come when called with rattled antlers. A person cant waste these few precious days of the rut. As hard as it is to admit, with weather like that, work in a nice warm office is better than freezing high up in a tree thats swaying in the breeze while cold rain runs down ones back. By early afternoon, the rain quit so I left work. My pop-up blind, that Ive been sure was in
