LGBTQIA+

Writers
Festival
By: Samantha Dobrovolny
Introduction

Orange County has an estimated

LGBTQIA+ population of 350,000. I want to
engage with the LGBTQIA+ community of
Orange County and Chapman University
that is interested in writing and I want to
provide a space for them to have the
opportunity to have fun and learn through
a plethora of activities like writing
workshops, talks, food stands, an artist
alley, and conversation with their peers!

Desired
Outcome
To provide a fun and educational event to LGBTQIA+ Chapman
students and Orange County Residents as well as allies. After
attending the festival, attendees will have more practice in
writing, knowledge about queer literature, knowledge about
resources on campus, and a cool souvenir from the artist
alley! In all, this event is to create a sense of community at
Chapman because it can seem daunting to go to a university
and not know many people who are like you, so by attending
this event students will be able to make new friends and have
a stronger community.
