800PL Series
Two Piece DC Hipot Testers

„ The 800PL Series DC hipot testers provide FEATURES

an economical solution to DC field testing of
power cables, terminations, motors, generators ; Rugged and portable construction
and other electrical apparatus. Models 8120-
5PL and 8170-5PL offer 120kV and 170kV ; Shielded output cable
respectively. Both models feature two-piece
; Full-wave voltage doubling rectifier circuit
construction complete with input line cord,
interconnect cable and high voltage output ; Zero start interlock and guard circuit
cable. Convenient cable storage space is
provided in the control box. ; Internal discharge solenoid

The 800 Series testers feature accurate kV ; Meter accuracy ± 2% full scale
meter readings regardless of load current. ; 5 mA current rating for cable charging
Accurate voltage and current measurements
are assured since voltage readings are taken ; External interlock provisions
directly at the output of the high voltage ; Three range voltmeter
transformer and current measurements are
taken in the return leg. Safe discharging of ; Four range current meter
both the test object and the high voltage ; No internal leakage at full load
transformer occur whenever the high voltage is
turned off. Output power is provided by ; Instantaneous overload relay
means of a full-wave voltage doubling rectifier
; Surge-limiting resistors in HV output
circuit with silicon rectifiers.
