I.Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
a.identify the different utensils used in food processing;
b.appreciate the value of proper usage of utensils in food processing;
c.perform the uses of utensils.

Preliminary Activities

Let us put ourselves in the Holy presence of God. In
Class,before we begin, may I request everybody the name of the father, of the son ,and the holy Spirit.

Good afternoon Ma’am.
Good afternoon class! It was great Ma’am
How’s your day?

Okay, that’s good to know. Everyone is present today Ma’am.

Okay, now class are you ready for today’s new
learning?

Before we start, kindly arrange your chairs (Students will arrange the chairs and pick the pieces of
properly and pick up all the pieces of paper papers)
around you.

▪︎Motivation Activity
Before we will proceed to our formal discussion.
I will give you an activity first.
So the title for this activity is "PICTURE
GUESS"
So I will show you some pictures and try to guess
the correct name of the picture and give their
uses.

Very good thus we will be discussing the


“utensils used in food processing"

Now lets define first what is food processing.


▪︎It is a process that turns raw food or other
ingredients into a new product.

The following are utensils used in food


processing.

1. Knives
▪︎for cutting or slicing fish or meat ant other food
items; for scaling fish
2. Slicers
▪︎For slicing fruits and vegetables
3. Peelers
▪︎Used for removing thin skins of fruits and
vegetables
4. Kitchen Scissors
▪︎For trimmings the fins of fish
5. Scalers
▪︎Used for removing scales of fish
6. Spatula
▪︎For levelling of Ingredients
7. Ladle
▪︎Used for scooping, mixing of foods
8. Tongs
▪︎to lift or handle food and other raw materials
especially when it is hot
9. Colander The students will answer
▪︎Used to drain water from foods
11. Chopping Board
▪︎durable board on which the material/food for
cutting
12. Strainer
▪︎Used to separate solid from liquid materials or
sift fine particles of food

specific fruits /vegetables.
4. I want to you to work in a group and finish the
activity.
5. Your group activity performance will be
graded using a rubric.
I'll give you 10 minutes to finish the given
activity.
