VI: RATIONALE

Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression collectively pertains to inherent

romantic attraction to others, innermost and internal concept of being male and female of a

person it is a component of one’s fundamental human rights which should be ensured and

protected. However the acceptance of SOGIE poses some challenges. The united Nations

children’s fund confirms that 1 out of 10 Filipinos gay youth have been assaulted in their

homes. While 8 out of 10 LGBT children are physically and psychologically abused in their

households. In the classroom, having non-Conforming gender expressions is one of the main

drivers of bullying. The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization

(UNESCO).

In line with, Kalingayan Elementary School will comply to conduct this activities to

promote gender and sexuality awareness . In connection to the DepEd Order No. 32 s.2017

which mandates to integrate the principles of gender equality, gender equity, gender
sensitivity, non discriminating human rights in the provision of governance and basic

education.

VII: OBJECTIVES

At the end of this activity, the participants will be able to:

 Raise awareness on sexual orientation, gender identity

 Empower students with different SOGIE through human rights literacy

 Apply SOGIE and human rights principles in the classrooms in order to create a

healthy and inclusive learning environment.
