Commission Issues Vital Notice
Regarding SSC CHSL Notification 2024
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the launch
of its new website, ssc.gov.in, while reassuring that the existing
website, ssc.nic.in, will remain accessible to the public. The
Commission issued a notice highlighting these significant updates,
along with guidelines for the SSC CHSL 2024 application process.

According to the notice, the SSC CHSL 2024 notification will be

published on the new website, and candidates are instructed to
submit their application forms through this platform. As part of the
application procedure, candidates must create their One Time
Registration (OTR) on the new website, as the OTR on the previous
website will not be operational.

Candidates are urged to complete the OTR well in advance of the

announcement of the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level
Examination, 2024 notice. Notably, the new application submission
process on the updated website introduces a feature allowing
candidates to capture live photographs, unlike the previous method
of uploading pre-captured images.

To capture live images, candidates should utilize either a webcam

on a computer/laptop or an Android device. The notice provides
guidance on ensuring optimal conditions for capturing live images,
including good lighting, a plain background, and positioning oneself
directly in front of the webcam at eye level. Additionally, candidates
are advised not to wear caps, masks, or glasses/spectacles while
taking live photos.

A total of 207 convicts received a 90-day

education remission as part of the prison
department's reform scheme.
In the last five years, a total of 207 inmates housed in various jails
across Maharashtra have benefited from the 'reform and
rehabilitate' scheme initiated by the prison department in 2019. This
program offers inmates a 90-day reduction in their prison sentence
if they engage in educational pursuits while incarcerated.

By the end of March, 207 inmates had received the 90-day

remission upon successfully completing their respective educational
endeavors, primarily consisting of graduation courses. Additionally,
sixteen individuals received an extra 90-day remission for
completing post-graduation courses. The prison department has
established partnerships with several universities, including
Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) in
Nashik and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in
Delhi, to facilitate the completion of Higher Secondary Certificate
(HSC), graduation, and post-graduation programs by various
convicts.

This remission opportunity is exclusively available to convicts

serving their sentences in 60 prisons throughout the state. A senior
official from the Maharashtra Prisons Department explained that the
'Reform and Rehabilitate' scheme aims to enhance the quality of life
for prisoners during their incarceration and equip them with
educational qualifications for their future endeavors upon release. It
was noted that inmates often choose subjects such as sociology,
political science, economics, history, Hindi, and Marathi while
pursuing their academic studies behind bars.
