I. OBJECTIVES
● Students will be able to identify and analyze story elements (setting, character, plot) in a given text
B. Motivation
GUESS ME!
1. The teacher will present a picture. The students will then guess what kind of story elements is in the
picture.
2. The teacher will ask the students what is the picture all about and let the students know how many
characters in the picture. Then the students will identify which of the picture is the character, setting, and
plot.
3. Today, we will discuss about the story elements and how we will analyze a story in terms of its elements.
C. Teaching/Modeling
Story Elements
- are the important components that make up a narrative. These include setting, character, and plot.
SETTING- The setting talks about the place and the time that the events in the story
happened.
The Plot has parts and these are the beginning, middle, and ending.
Beginning- Start of the story. It gives the problem faced by the main character.
Middle- It presents the actions made by the characters to solve the problem.
After discussing the importance of story elements in a narrative. The teacher will ask the students questions
such as:
Mechanics: The class will be divided into 2 groups. They will be given 5 minutes to finish their task. The
chosen reporter of each group will be given 2 minutes to explain their work.
Score Criteria
5 The task done correctly and finished on time.
4 The task with two mistakes was done and finished on time.
3 The task with three mistakes was done and finished on time.
2 The task with four mistakes was done and finished on time.
1 The task was done with mistakes and finish late.
● The teacher will remind the rules in doing their group activity.
GROUP 1. Read the story carefully and answer the question below.
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily. She lived in a small town
surrounded by a forest. Lily had a special red kite that she loved to fly in the park
near her house. One windy day, Lily's kite flew away into the forest. She decided
to go in and find it. As she walked deeper into the forest, she met a talking squirrel
named Sammy. Sammy told Lily that he saw her kite flying towards a mountain in
the distance. Lily thanked Sammy and continued on her adventure. She climbed
up the mountain and found her kite stuck in a tree. As she reached for it, a gentle
dragon appeared and helped her get the kite down. Lily was grateful and invited
the dragon to play with her. They spent the day flying the kite together and
became good friends. From that day on, Lily, Sammy, and the dragon had many
fun adventures together in the forest. Lily learned that sometimes losing something
can lead to unexpected friendships and new experiences. And they all lived
happily ever after.
