I. Situation Overview
Issued on 06 February 2024 at around 4:00 PM, cloudy skies with scattered rain
showers and thunderstorms caused by Easterlies may have brought possible flash
floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in Davao Region,
SOCCSKSARGEN, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao
del Sur.
On the same day at approximately 7:40 PM, a landslide caused by the effects of
Easterlies occurred in Barangays Elizalde, Mainit, Masara, and Tagbaros in Maco,
Davao de Oro. The incident resulted in the displacement of affected families /
individuals and several reported casualties.

A total of 2,200 families or 8,337 persons are affected in four (4) barangays in Maco,
Davao de Oro (see Annex A).

1. Standby Funds
● ₱109.15 million Quick Response Fund (QRF) at the DSWD Central Office.

16 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI distributed additional sets of non-food items to the
affected families in the evacuation centers.
12 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI distributed FFPs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and
family kits to the families affected by the landslide incident.

08 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI monitored the establishment and implementation
of Camp Coordination and Camp Management and provided
technical assistance to LGU onsite.
● The Province of Davao de Oro deployed CCCM Cluster Team in
the Evacuation Centers.
07 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI facilitated the set-up of modular tents to provide
shelter for the affected families.

07 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI administered the profiling and validation of the
affected families and individuals through the use of the Family
Access Card in Emergencies and Disasters (FACED).

Government Unit (LGU) of Maco, Davao de Oro and all
concerned offices for significant disaster response updates and
further relief augmentation requests.

10 February 2024 ● DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Disaster Response
Management Group (DRMG) Undersecretary Dianna Rose S.
Cajipe and officials from DSWD FO XI visited evacuation centers
to assess the situation, conditions of displaced families, and
personally deliver assistance to the affected families and
individuals.

and other concerned offices for significant updates and further
requests for augmentation.
● The LGU of Maco, Davao de Oro continuously monitored its Area
of Responsibility (AOR).
● The LGU of Maco, Davao de Oro continuously conducts retrieval
operations.
13 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis
Situations (AICS) provided the affected families of financial
assistance.
09 February 2024 ● DSWD FO XI through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis
Situation (AICS) provided the survivors of financial assistance.
