How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based (Real world problems) and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will work independently on their own Padlet to complete all activities. While the teacher is
circulating helping students who may need clarification or help with technology use. I will keep
students engaged and focused using videos and interactive activities on the Padlet to address many
students needs through different learning formats. I am going on the basis that students have no
prior knowledge so everything they will learn is in a scaffolded method so as they complete the
Padlet activities it will be progressively more difficult. I will ask students before the beginning of the
activity what they believe is a good citizen or what a citizen is at all. One of the tasks I have created
ask that students respond with a video of them explaining if they have either seen or done
something themselves being a good citizen. This connects a real-world experience to the topic and
content of the lesson. Students learning will be assessed by a formative assessment done on Blooket
where students will answer questions as they play a game. I will then get the data form students
playing the game to see what they have learned. I will conclude the lesson by having students listen
to a good citizen song that we will all sing together at the conclusion of the lesson and begin to
transition to the next activity.

Managing student learning:

Students will become active learners with this lesson because the use of Web 2.0 communication
allows for a different type of engagement for students. I will use the instructional assessment
strategy of quick chat time with peers to talk about what they are drawing or what their personal
story is.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Students have many options to be engaged with their work depending on their needs for.
Throughout the Padlet there are options of read-aloud, sing along, videos, and activities for them to
learn the material through. The same content addressing the standard of being a good citizen is
offered as multiple formats for learners. Students have multiple formats of their responses as well
such as videos, typing, and drawing. The goal is to optimize every student’s needs through the
Universal Design for Learning method, so all students are able to achieve the learning goal.

Reflective Practice:

I believe the engagement and each students self-motivation will change through this lesson. It offers
so many different formats for not only learning the content but also for how the students respond. I
look forward to seeing all students being engaged while working through the Padlet. I felt like when I
was in school there were a lot of times where I as well as classmates were completely unengaged
because it wasn’t an interesting topic. I feel like if this approach were taken with many of my other
classes in grade school I would’ve retained more information.
