==============================================================

1. Purposes of Reefer Inspection (PTI)

Reefer Inspection is performed to ensure that the reefer is in sound and functional conditions. Thus,
to ensure reefer service, Reefer Inspection is carried out before releasing the reefer unit to the
customer.

2. Kinds of Reefer Inspection

There are three kinds of Reefer Inspection:
(I) Regular PTI
(II) Smart PTI
(III) Special Test

(I) Regular PTI

Nature: Inspection service to ensure that a reefer is serviceable before releasing reefer to customer
for export loading.
General policy: Chill PTI is applied to the aged 9 or younger reefers in OOCL fleet, while AUTO
PTI for the reefer at 10 years or older.

 Please refer to the commission date in the machinery panel or the manufacturer’s system etc
resource, or enquire OOCL of the built year, if you are uncertain about the container age.

Terminology Also known Description

(II) Smart PTI (also known as e-PTI)

Nature: Visual inspection service to a reefer which already passed the continuous function test of
machinery performance during previous shipment, to ensure the reefer is serviceable before
releasing reefer to customer for export loading

(III) Special Test (also Extended PTI for Special Shipment)

Nature: Special inspection service for the operation of special features of the reefer.

3.4 Inspection of RH Sensor during PTI

i. For the booking with the request of de-humidification control,

 Issue boxes aged 5 or younger for dehumidification shipment.

 If there’s NO reefer aged 5 or younger at stock, the vendor could select reefer over 5-year-old
for dehumidification booking, however, the vendor should report to OOCLMNR for pre-
approval especially when having the humidity sensor failure.
 Make sure RH sensor is to be tested via controller menu to verify the sensor accuracy. For
details, refer to OOCLMNR bulletin (OOCLMNR001)

ii. For a reefer not prepared for de-humidification booking

 If the box aged 5 years or younger which is still covered under warranty period, don’t disable
dehumidification function as long as it is a unit equipped with RH Sensor.
 For a box at 6years old or over, specifically described as follows:

a. Thermoking reefer: needn’t inspect RH Sensor during Chill or Long PTI inspection;
refer to item 7 about how to disable dehumidification function.
b. Daikin reefer: No need to manually disable dehumidification function,as De-hum
feature will default off after Long/Chill PTI
c. Carrier Reefer: Don’t disable the humidification feature without OOCL pre-approval.

3.5 Supplementary provisions

1) Regular PTI Validity Period is 60 days, and Smart PTI validity is 30 Days

2) If the reefer has been positioned by vessels from other location and still within 60 days after
latest PTI, POL OPS Team or RFT/HKG Team might provide reefer list to POD team who are
requested to share the reefer list with the vendor and remind the vendor to check reefer carefully
during gate inspection while no PTI is required.

3) If the reefer is empty returned by the shipper due to booking cancelation or other reasons after
release for booking shipment and still within 60days after latest regular PTI, needn’t do regular
PTI again.
 If it is Smart PTI performed for one export booking, but the booking is cancelled after
booking release, the reefer needs regular PTI again once after empty return.

Except:
i. If there is a visual heavy damage of the reefer box and/or machinery. PTI is required per PTI
Application Criteria after the damage is rectified or repaired,

ii. If there is any malfunctioning report on the unit or customer’s complaint about the reefer
performance, PTI is required per PTI Application Criteria.

iii. Special request from OOCL to do PTI.

4) For all the reefers aged at or below 9, the insulation is sound without significant normal wear &
tear and the machinery is new. Thus, we only need to carry out the checking of the reefer
machinery plus the sensor checking at +0.0degC. No need to check the performance at -18degC.

5) The Conventional PTI will be carried out by PM centers, or specific vendors assigned by OOCL
for thorough checking of the reefers, with download data submitted.

6) For brand new reefer being first delivered from the factory to in-service fleet,

728779640.docx
