How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply.

☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation:

First, I will review what I have already taught my students about the relationship between the
sun, moon, and earth since this will be a lesson that has already been taught. This activity will
be a fun way for them to express to me that they have learned. I will introduce PowerPoint
to them, ask has anyone ever heard of it or even used it before. Next, I will explain that they
will be creating a digital story book using this productivity tool. I will display all instructions
and goals they will need to accomplish for this activity. I will guide and show them step by
step how to successfully complete this activity. Once that is done, I will give them time to
process and ask any questions they may have. Before they began to create their book,
students will write down on paper their ideas on what they want to include in their story
(title, pictures, and words). As students are working, I will be walking around to answer any
questions so there is little no confusion, offer feedback and guidance. Once students are
done writing their ideas they will began working on their stories. I will express to students
that there story doesn’t need to be no more than 10 slides long. Finally, once students are
complete, as class we will discuss how they enjoyed this activity. What they liked and disliked
and were some challenges they faced and how I could help them better in their future.

Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:

For this activity, I will create I will be setting time limits for my students in order to keep them
on tasks. They will have a time limit for brainstorming their ideas onto paper since the
majority time will be spent on creating the story. Students creating a written plan is super
crucial for a project like this to help them focus. I also will be encouraging students to ask 3,
then me when they need help.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

With this activity, it meets the UDL principal of action and expression. As, well as
engagement. This productivity tool provides a hands-on and visual learning experience for
students. They are able to create and express what they have learned on a specific topic by
designing their own digital story book. They are given free creativity with everything with
how they choose to express what they learned.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:

This activity will impact student learning because they are learning how to create their own
original story and using a productivity tool in a new way. This will enhance their creativity and
allow them to use think deeply on how they want to design their story. Students are given
the opportunity to explore and work independently. I am excited to implement this
productivity tool and see the uniqueness of each story the students created.
