From the Principal’s Desk
Nari Gursahani Law College is committed to providing holistic legal education with strong
emphasis on critical thinking and learning by doing, leading to development of value-based
convictions, determination, self-reliance and leadership qualities in students. It focuses more
on learning than on teaching. Rather than stuffing the memories of students with statutes,
sections and case laws, teachers create an environment that is conducive to learning. A zeal
for learning permeates through all the academic and extra-curricular programmes and
activities of the College.
The Vision of NGLC is to be a college of repute in legal studies and research.
Its Mission is to gift to society efficient and humane legal professionals steeped in
constitutional ideals but at the same time ready to meet the challenges of globalization.
The Motto of the College is ‘Legal Education: A Social Commitment'.
The pride of this student centric College is its 3 annual events -- Nari Gursahani Festival
Vidhi Manthan, Padma Bhushan late Dr. L. H. Hiranandani Memorial, and Dr. Gopi
Gursahani Memorial. At these annual events High Court Judges and legal professionals visit
the College and interact with students across the country who take part in the moot court/
client counseling / mock trial / panel discussion/ research paper writing Competitions.
Trophies, medals, cash prizes and certificates are awarded to winners.
To enable cross fertilization of legal systems and cultures, the College invites judges,
advocates, professors, librarians from different countries.
To equip the students for their march from class room to court room and non-litigation
spaces, the College organizes certificate courses in contemporary legal issues; educational
visits to courts, tribunals, police stations, prisons, legislative assemblies, etc., and seminars
and workshops.
Living true to its motto of legal education being a social commitment, the students whole
heartedly participate in community outreach programs through College Legal Aid Cell,
Legal Awareness Camps and DLLE.
To add flavour to learning the students indulge merrily in cultural activities and sports and
bag prizes and medals.

About HSNC Board
The HSNC Board is known for its educational excellence in all major programs of
humanities, science, business, engineering, law, pharmacy, management and information
technology. It caters to the needs of about fifty thousand students through a group of fifteen
Colleges, one of which is Nari Gursahani Law College.
Founded in 1949 under the able guidance of two towering personalities – Barrister H. G.
Advani and Vidyasagar Prin. K M Kundnani – the Board started its journey to create
educational oases in the cities of Mumbai and Ulhasnagar.
Now, with six dynamic members – Mr. Anil Harish, Dr. Niranjan L. Hiranandani, Dr. Kishu
Mansukhani, Mr. Lal Chellaram, Mrs. Maya Shahani and Principal Dinesh Panjwani – at the
helm of affairs, the Board has lived up to its logo which says: “Where ideas come to life.”
With its philosophy of simple living and high thinking the Board has enriched innumerable
lives in the teeming cities of Mumbai and Ulhasnagar.
Nari Gursahani Law College, named after the legendary Supreme Court advocate and
humanist, is popularly known as NGLC. Established in 2004, the College has been imparting
quality legal education to the students in Ulhasnagar and its vicinity. The College is affiliated
to University of Mumbai and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and Bar
Council of India.
Aesthetically designed, the College has modern and well-equipped class-rooms, moot court
hall, a well-endowed spacious library, gymkhana, campus canteen and playground, which
makes learning a joyful process.
The strength of NGLC lies in its dedicated and committed teaching and non-teaching faculty,
which maintains a homely atmosphere, coupled with necessary discipline.
The motto of the College is ‘Legal Education – A Social Commitment.’ The vision of the
College is to create a Center of Excellence aiming at value based and holistic development of
students equipped for global challenges of the millennium. And the mission of the College is
to provide legal knowledge through theory and practice and to make the study of law socially
relevant and fruitful.

Programs offered
The College offers an integrated 5 Years BLS/LLB degree program (after twelfth standard)
as well as 3 Years LLB degree program (after graduation).Both the Programs are full-time.
The 5 Years program is a ten semester program, two semesters per year. The first four
semesters are the pre-law semesters. On successful completion of the first six semesters of
the 5 Years program, a student is awarded the B.L.S. [Bachelor of Legal Science] Degree by
the University of Mumbai. And on successful completion of all ten semesters, he is awarded
the Bachelor of Laws Degree by the University of Mumbai.
The 3 Years program is a six semester program, two semesters per year. On successful
completion of the 3 Years program, the student is eligible for the LLB degree awarded by the
University of Mumbai. If a student desires to pursue the study of law for the sake of pure
knowledge but does not wish to practice as an advocate, he is eligible for the LLB (General)
Degree at the end of the second year.
The University implemented CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) 60:40 from the A.Y.
2019–2020 for 3 and 5 Years programs; and 75:25 CBCS from the A.Y. 2022-23 (The
circulars are available on the University’s websitewww.mu.ac.in).
1. Admission to the First Year of the 3yrs and 5yrs Law Programs is as per the
Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institution[Regulation of
Admissions and Fees] Act, 2015.
2. Candidates are advised to visit the following websites for information on Common
Entrance Test [CET] and the Centralized Admission Process [CAP]. mahacet.org
3. The CAP is conducted by the Directorate of Higher Education [DHE], Maharashtra
State.The schedule for admission, eligibility criteria and documents to be submitted
and other rules pertaining to admission through CAP is decided by DHE and is published
in the information brochure and hosted on DHE website.
4. Minimum eligibility for admission:
5 Years BLS/LLB Program
a. Educational Qualifications:Applicants who have successfully completed Senior
Secondary School Course (+2) or equivalent course from the Institute in Maharashtra
State (such as 11+1, A level in Senior secondary School Leaving Certificate course)
from a recognized Board in India or Outside or from Secondary Board or equivalent,
constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government or from any
equivalent institution from a Foreign Country recognized by the Government of that
Country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of
the course examination and having its Institution in the State of Maharashtra, with
minimum of 45% marks in Aggregate for OPEN, EWS (Economically Weaker

Section) & Outside Maharashtra State candidates (OMS) i.e. All India Candidature
Candidates, (candidates belonging to SC & ST Category candidates belonging to
Maharashtra State with minimum 40% marks in Aggregate and VJNT, SBC and OBC
Category Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State with minimum 42% marks in
Aggregate).
b. Minimum eligibility for admission is as per CET Information Brochure and CAP
Brochure.
3 Years LLB Program
a. Candidate should be a Graduate in any Faculty of any University in Maharashtra
established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent.
National Institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University
recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an Authority
competent to declare equivalence, With Minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in
qualifying examination (That is 45% marks for all the parts of the Degree Examination
taken together in case of the candidates belongings to Open Category, All India
Candidature (OMS) and EWS. 40% marks in aggregate in qualifying examination
(That is 40% marks for all the parts of the Degree Examination taken together) in case
of candidates belonging to SC & ST Categories belonging to Maharashtra State; 42%
marks in aggregate in qualifying examination (That is 42% marks for all the parts of
the Degree Examination taken together) in case of candidates belonging to VJNT,
SBC and OBC Categories belonging to Maharashtra State.
b. Minimum eligibility for admission is as per CET Information Brochure and CAP
Brochure.
5. No student shall be allowed to simultaneously register for an LLB degree program
with any other Graduate/Post graduate/Certificate Course run by any University or
Institute.[Rule 6 of BCI rules 2008]
6. The intake capacity for each Course is 60 students. Of these 51% are reserved for
Sindhi minority candidates.
7. Sindhi linguistic minority students domiciled in Maharashtra and desirous of securing
admission in this College too will have to comply with the rules of centralized
admission process.
8. Candidates offered seats will confirm the same on payment of fees and submission of
documents.
9. All students offered admission shall complete the pre-admission online registration
process of University of Mumbai.
10. The Admission Form and the online Admission Brochure will be available from the
College Office.
11. In case of a student migrating from another Board/University, provisional eligibility
certificate from Mumbai University is required. According to O.111, a student from
another University or Board of Secondary or Intermediate Education or any other
Statutory examining body seeking admission to the University shall apply to the
Registrar for a statement of eligibility and except in the case of students from the
Universities in the State of Maharashtra, who shall be required to pay Rs.200/- only
and for out of Maharashtra State pay a fee of Rs.300/- (Fee for the foreign nationals is

Rs.730/-). The Registrar may issue a provisional statement of eligibility if he is satisfied
that the applicant is prima facie eligible for admission to this University.On
production of such a provisional statement of eligibility, a student may seek provisional
admission to this University at his own risk and on condition that he submit to the
Registrar’s office through the Head/Principal of his Institution/College, the necessary
certificates in original together with a certified copy of each for confirmation of his
eligibility before the close of the academic term in which the student is provisionally
admitted to the University. No student from another University shall be admitted to any
Institution maintained by or affiliated to the University except on production of a
provisional statement of eligibility issued by the Registrar.
The University may issue a provisional statement of eligibility after due date by
imposing a penalty of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 10,000 for non-professional and professional
courses respectively subject to the fulfillment of conditions laid down in Ordinance 119
and 120 relating to the attendance to be kept by the student and also subject to the
condition that the student is admitted as per the admission schedule of the University.
12. In case of student from a college affiliated to Mumbai University, transference
certificate from that college is required. The application for such certificate should be
sent through the college in the prescribed form.The student shall be responsible for
obtaining T.C. from his previous college and submitting it to the College.
13. At the time of admission every student shall enroll himself/herself with the University of
Mumbai by filling the enrollment form on digitaluniversity.ac.in portal. He/She shall
also fill the examination forms for both the semesters.
14. He/She shall further register himself/herself with the Bar Council of India, through the
College.
15. Documents to be Submitted:
Five passport size photographs and original plus three copies of each of the documents
required by the CET/ARA/University shall be submitted at the time of admission to the
College office along with a flap button plastic folder and full name of the student written
and pasted on the folder. A self attested copy of Aadhar and University pre-enrolment
form too to be submitted to the office.
16. Undertakings to be submitted:
a. An undertaking that the student is not simultaneously pursuing any other Course
including CA, CS, etc.
b. An undertaking that he will attend a minimum 75% of the total number of lectures
held during each semester.
c. An online undertaking at www.antiragging.in and www.amanmovement.org that
he/she shall not engage in anti-ragging acts.
17. Fees:
a. The College charges fee as approved by the Fee Regulating Authority for that
academic year. In case the final fee has not been approved by the Fee Regulating
Authority till the date of admission, the College charges an interim fee decided by the
FRA and subsequently collects/refunds the deference between the final approved fee
and interim fee. The fee structure is displayed on the College Website and College
Notice Board.

b. Students will have to pay the Group Insurance fee.
18. Cancellation and refund of Fees:
The rules for cancellation of admission and refund of fees are as decided by the DHE.
1. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Second Semester, must have
successfully kept the terms for the First Semester, irrespective of the result of the First
Semester examination.
2. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Third Semester, must have either
passed in examination of the First and Second Semesters or must have got exemption
in at least four papers of the First and Second Semesters.
3. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Fourth Semester, must have
successfully kept the terms for the Third Semester, irrespective of the result of the
Third Semester examination.
4. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Fifth Semester, must have passed
in all the papers of First and Second Semesters and must have either passed in the
Third and Fourth Semesters or must have got exemption in at least four papers of the
Third and Fourth Semesters.
5. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Sixth Semester, must have
successfully kept the terms for the Fifth Semester, irrespective of the result of the Fifth
Semester examination.
6. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Seventh Semester, must have
passed in all papers of First to Fourth Semesters, and must have either passed in the
examinations of the Fifth and Sixth Semesters,or must have got exemption in six
papers (including Practical Training and DPC papers) of the Fifth and Sixth
Semesters.
7. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Eight Semester, must have
successfully kept the terms for the Seventh Semester, irrespective of the result of the
Seventh Semester examination.
8. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Ninth Semester, must have passed
in all papers of First to Sixth Semesters, and must have either passed in the
examinations of the Seventh and Eighth Semesters, or must have got exemption in at
least six papers (including Practical Training and DPC papers) of the Seventh and
Eighth Semesters.
9. A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Tenth Semester, must have
successfully kept the terms for the Ninth Semester, irrespective of the result of the
Ninth Semester examination.

Journey Concessions
1. Journey concessions are regulated by the Rules and Regulations governing the
grant of concession by the concerned Authority.
2. Bonafide students up to the age of 25 Years are entitled to get local journey railway
concession between the stations nearest to their residence and the college, provided
they have 75% attendance.

3. Long journey railway concessions are granted to bonafide students only during
vacations to visit their native place provided they have 75% attendance.
4. Students are entitled to air travel concession to visit their native place during
vacation, provided the airlines grant them concession.
Identity Card
1. The College issues identity card and library card to a student at the beginning of the
academic year. These are valid only for that particular year.
2. A student must take care of his identity card and carry it every day to the College.
He will be required to produce it in the classroom, library and the College campus.
3. Loss of identity card must be immediately reported in writing to the College office,
with a statement of the circumstance in which it was lost. The office will issue a
duplicate identity card on payment of Rs.100.
4. If a student desires to cancel his admission, the identity card, library card and books
borrowed from the library must be surrendered to the College along with the fee
receipt.
Attendance
According to the Bar Council of India Rules and the University Rules, attendance at
lectures and practical training is compulsory. The minimum attendance required for
keeping the term is 75% of the days on which lectures are delivered in each term. The
College will grant terms only on the basis of satisfactory attendance performance in
classrooms tests and preliminary examination and good conduct. Students who do not
satisfy these conditions will not be granted terms and will therefore not be eligible to
take the University examinations or avail of scholarship/freeship/Journey concessions.
Prizes / Awards

Library and Reading Room
The library is kept open from 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM on all working days. One month
prior to the University examination, it is kept open from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM and is
open even on Sundays and Holidays.
Books are not issued for being taken outside the library hall, but there is a lending
section in respect of prescribed books, from which books are loaned to students of the
College for being taken home in accordance with the Rules and Regulations framed
for this purpose.
College Library
Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are essential for the all-round development
of personality of a student. Moot-courts, Client counseling, trial advocacy, legal
literacy programs, elocutions, debates, essay competitions, seminars, symposia,
workshops, panel discussions, lecture series by legal luminaries, etc, play a vital role
in developing the oratory and personality of a law student. Every student is therefore
expected to take part in such activities. Similarly students are expected to participate
in cultural activity and sports.

Placement Cell
Education is knowing what you want, knowing where to get it and knowing what to do
with it after you get it. This role is discharged by the College Placement Cell which
endeavors to provide them employment opportunities after completion of the Law Course,
provided he submits the google form for placement in time.
Internship
The College facilitates internships. Every interning student is required to submit the details
of his internship to office without fail.
Educational tours
Teaching of law cannot be confined to textbooks or to classrooms alone. Visits to Court,
Jails, Prisons, Parliament, Tribunals, Commission, Cells and legal institutes play a vital
role in giving a practical vision of law to a student. Having this in mind, the College
conducts educational tours to such institutions.

Memorial Event; are the 4 annual festivals held every year during September, March and
August, on the birthdays of these exemplary persons. The festivals are sponsored by D M
Harish Foundation and Nari Gopi Hardasmal Gursahani Foundation. Students of various
law colleges participate in these festivals which are packed with academic and cultural
activities such as Moot Courts, Client Counseling, Panel Discussions, Elocution, Debate,
Research Writing, Singing, Dancing, Slogan Writing, Poster Making etc.

The College Magazine - Vidhi Chakra captures the talent and skill of the students through
their articles, interviews, poems and jokes. It highlights the events of the College and the
achievements of the students at the college, inter-collegiate, national and international
competitions.

College Regulations
1. Students shall abide by the general and special rules made by the College
authorities with regard to the conduct of students, in and outside the College and
the decision of the College authorities shall be final. Parents and guardians are also
presumed to have agreed to these rules when their wards join the College.
2. Students should regularly read the notices displayed on the College Notice Boards
from time to time.
3. Use of cell phones is strictly prohibited in the College premises. Students found
using cell phones in the College premises are liable to be fined Rs. 50.
4. No student shall refuse to establish or reveal his identity in the College premises.
5. Smoking; consumption of tamaku, gutka and alcoholic drinks, intoxicants and
narcotic drugs; ragging and being in possession of any material deemed
objectionable by the Principal of the College is strictly prohibited in the College
premises.
6. If it is found that any student has indulged in ragging in the past or it is noticed that
he indulges in ragging, he shall be expelled from the College and his admission
shall be cancelled.
7. Students shall not do anything either inside or outside the College that will in any
way interfere with its orderly administration and discipline; or bring dis-repute to
it.
8. No society or association shall be formed in the College and no person will be
invited to address a meeting without the prior permission of the Principal.
9. No student shall collect any money or contribution for picnic, trip, educational
visit, get-together, study notes, charity or for any other activity without the prior
sanction of the Principal.
10. No student shall communicate any information or speak or write about matters
dealing with the College administration to the Press/You tube/any social media.
11. No student shall do an act, which tends to lower the public image of the College or
its officers.
12. Insubordination and unbecoming language or misconduct on the part of the student
is sufficient reason for his suspension/dismissal.
13. Making false statement or tampering with certificates and records, whether for
seeking admission or securing any other benefit will entail punitive action.
14. A student must not associate with any activity not authorized by the College
Principal.
15. Students will not go for jobs/work/business or private coaching during the College
hours.
16. If there is any change in the name (on account of marriage or otherwise), address
or contact number of a student, it is the responsibility of the
student/parent/guardian to immediately intimate, in writing, to the College office.
17. In case of illness, a student/parent/guardian must give an application with a
medical certificate to the office.

18. Students must attend classes strictly as per the time table displayed on the Notice
Board.
19. Conduct of a student in the class as well as in the premises of the College shall be
such as will cause no disturbance to fellow students and other classes.
20. Students must not loiter in the College premises while lectures are being engaged.
21. Students are expected to take care of the College property and to help in keeping
the premises clean and hygienic. Causing damage to the property of the College by
disfiguring or writing on the walls, doors, fittings, etc, or breaking furniture or
tearing posters, etc. is a breach of discipline; and the student found guilty shall be
punished.
22. Students should not leave their books, valuables or other belongings in the
classrooms, corridors, etc.
23. The lost and found property should be deposited and claimed at the College office
during the office hours.
24. Students applying for certificates, testimonials, etc. and those requiring the
signature of the Principal on any document should contact the College office at
least two days in advance. No papers should be brought by the student directly to
the Principal for her signature.
25. No student is allowed to bring or eat/drink eatables and cold drinks in the
classroom or library.
26. Students should come decently dressed to the College. Informal dresses will not be
permitted in the College premises.
27. Students while collecting any document/hall ticket/mark sheet, etc. should
carefully examine the same; and in case of any error, bring it to the notice of the
Office. If they fail to do so, the Office will not be responsible at a later stage.
28. Students receiving Government or any other scholarship/freeship or any remission
in fee, must note that the grant and continuance thereof are subject to good
behavior, attendance, satisfactory progress at the College and University
examinations.
29. Matters not covered by the existing Rules rest at the absolute discretion of the
Principal.
30. In case of any dispute or difference that may arise between the student or his/her
parents and the College or Management in the matter of admission, fees, refund of
fees, transfer, etc. the appropriate court of law in Mumbai only will have
jurisdiction to entertain the same.
