Topic: We’re lost story/Animals and food
Main focus skills:
- Receptive: reading and listening;
Productive: writing and speaking;
Main COMPETENCES:
- pupils will be able to listen and read making learning English enjoyable;
- pupils will be able to identify and name animals and their food;
Aims:
- to give the pupils practice in listening and speaking comprehension skills;
Aids/ Materials: pictures , word cards, colouring pencils, digital student’s book , workbook
Activity 1 Warm up / Song
Aim: to get the students into the English class atmosphere by asking them questions and checking their
homework;
T. asks the students questions about the weather, the time, their favourite food and drink etc.
T. gets the students to ask her questions on the same topics: What’s your favourite time of the day?
T. checks students’ homework: one or more students read the homework aloud.
Do you remember the song about the animal boogie? What is animal boogie? Teacher plays the
recording and pupils join in to sing the song and perform the actions.
Let’s do the animal boogie, squeak, I kike horses, horses are nice
Let’s do the animal boogie, moo. I like mice, mice are nice,
T. introduces the story by asking the pupils to look at the pictures and name the characters of the story-
The super friends: Whisper, Misty, Flash and Thunder. What are their super powers?
The pupils are invited to listen to the story and see who is using his powers in this case.
Teacher plays the digital book; pupils have to listen and say the story – whole class works together.
Activity 3 Listening comprehension
AIM: to demonstrate their listening comprehension by completing parts of the story;
T: you have to look at the sentences on the board. What are they about? Can you complete the
sentences with the correct words? T. checks answers and writes them on the board. T. writes on BB

2. Look at the picture and choose the best caption. Circle it!
4. Listen and say the sentence: The zoo keeper gives the lizards bananas for dinner.
T plays the audio and asks pupils to read and listen carefully.
Where does milk come from? Where do eggs come from? Where does fish come from?
Listening and reading follow-up: pupils have to match the products with the places/the animals they
come from Ex2/pg. 80
Pupils have to read and listen for the short reading text. Teacher asks comprehension questions:
What are bacteria? They are small living things.
Pupils have to look at page 81 in their books, listen, read and draw lines matching the food
safety tips/rules to the pictures.
T. elicits answers, congratulates pupils on their work by giving red marks to the hard-working
ones. T. also indicates their homework page 81/book ( copy the food safety tips on notebooks)
