SCHOLARSHIPS
TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIP AND
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Kardan University is committed to recognizing students’ academic
achievements and extracurricular activities, which will motivate and
encourage students to work hard towards further accomplishments.
These achievements are rewarded with different scholarships detailed in
the following sections.

The University is also committed to ensuring no student is left behind


from pursuing higher education solely for financial reasons.

Merit-Based Scholarships
The goal of merit-based scholarships is to recognize and encourage
academic excellence among Kardan University students. The University
offers merit-based scholarships to students registered in undergraduate
and graduate programs. Merit-based scholarships are awarded at the
beginning of each semester and are valid for only one semester. The
number of merit-based scholarships available to Kardan University
students is determined at the beginning of each semester by the Kardan
University Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee. Kardan
University students who meet the stipulated eligibility criteria are
considered for this scholarship.

Students meeting the following criteria will be


eligible for availing Scholarship:
• Candidates attaining a minimum of 4.00 Grade Point
Average (GPA) in the previous semester and a minimum
of 3.8 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA);
• Candidates with a minimum of 75% attendance in the
previous semester;

• Candidates with active participation and achievements in research,


sports or public service.
Public Service, Athletic, or Co-Curricular Achievements
Scholarships
The Kardan University Public Service, Athletic, or Co-curricular
Scholarships are available to existing and new students with
extraordinary achievements in public service, sports, or co-curricular
activities. This scholarship is designed to recognize and promote a
culture of public service, student engagement, and sporting achievement
among Kardan University students. Public Service, Athletic, or
Co-Curricular Scholarships are awarded at the beginning of each
semester and are valid for only one semester. The number of scholarships
available is determined at the beginning of each semester by the Kardan
University’s Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee.

Eligibility Criteria
• Student must attain a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in
the previous semester;
• Student must have a minimum of 75% attendance in their previous
semester of study;
• Student must be an active member of a student club at Kardan University;
• Student has demonstrated contribution in student-led activities
and Kardan University events.
Kardan University Equal Opportunity Scholarship
The Kardan University Equal Opportunity Scholarship is intended to
extend higher education opportunities to students from underprivileged
and disenfranchised communities. Each semester Kardan University
identifies those in the community with severe financial need to study at
Kardan University who otherwise cannot afford to pursue higher
education at the University. Equal Opportunity Scholarship covers the full
tuition fee for the entire academic degree at the University, depending on
the academic performance.

This scholarship facility stems from Kardan University’s commitment to


give back to the community and ensures that the University is home to
students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The number of
scholarships available is determined at the beginning of each semester by
the Kardan University’s Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee.

Eligibility Criteria
• Student must demonstrate exceptional academic potential;
• Student must be from a marginalized or disadvantaged community;
• Student has demonstrated contribution or intent to contribute to public
service or volunteer activities;
• Preference shall be given to those students having no income source
or fall into bottom 20% of household income group.
FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE
Financial Assistance
The Kardan University’s Financial Assistance program is designed to enable
eligible existing and prospective students with financial needs to pursue
higher education at the University. Financial Assistance is offered in the form
of tuition fee reductions to reduce the financial burden on students. The
Kardan University’s Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee
determines the number of financial assistance awards at the beginning of
each semester. Financial Assistance awards are valid for one semester.
Students who meet the stipulated eligibility criteria are considered for
assistance.

Eligibility Criteria for New Students


• Meeting the admission eligibility criteria
• Indication of financial need through a purpose statement
• Demonstration of academic, sporting or public service potential
and achievements
• Preference will be given to those students having no income source
(jobless) or fall into bottom 20% of household income group.

Eligibility Criteria for Existing Students


• Achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Being registered for a minimum of 17 credits
• Having a minimum attendance of 75%
• Demonstrating community service or research contributions
• Not being penalized due to late fee payment in the previous semester
• Preferences will be given to those students who fall into bottom 20% of
household income group

General Procedures for Award of Scholarship or Financial


Assistance
1. Submission of Application: Students submit their application and all
supporting documents to the Scholarship and Financial Assistance Office by
the stated deadline.
2. Review of Application: A review of applications is conducted by the
respective deans of the applicant’s chosen program of study. The nominations
for the award are submitted to the VC-Academics for final selection.
3. Selection & Notification of Decision: VC-Academics conducts final selection,
and students are notified of the decision on their applications for the
scholarship through student portals.
